2006 Fz1 Gen II in CA

Hi Dustin, yes I will stick around and also get a new bike. I even would take my bike with me but that would be a major hassle with the German TUV. In case anyone comes to Germany or the European Alps I will gladly give advice for touring.

2006 Fz1 Gen II in CA

Hi, NEW PRICE 3500$ I am selling my trusted Fz1 Gen II 2006, it is located in Foster City, CA (SF Bay area). The bike was carefully maintained and has had it's 2nd valve adjustment done. All maintenance is done and the bike needs nothing (new brake fluid and oil just last week). The bike was...

Oil Change & warm up time

Ok let's add my 2 cents (have a Phd in physics and owned lots of bikes). Warming up is not needed, even when the engine is cold it is lubed, ever done a valve check? the engine has to be cold when doing this and everything is in oil when you do it. The oil needs to circulate to cool and lube the...

How much better are tapered bearings

The Fz is great with fork oils I changed mine after 36k and it was still transperant and indistinguishable from the new. The feel afterwards was not much changed. Other bikes need more often service. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

    EBR files for Receivership

That's sad but small brands will always have problems. You have to operate in the large European market if you want to sell high end bikes otherwise you just can not sell enough. I also think that smaller manufacturers must be always more expansive and this leads to even fewer clients. Just...

How much better are tapered bearings

I replaced my steering head bearing with an all ball and it works since 20k miles without any issues no repack needed. My original one lasted about 34k and there is no difference as long as both are working. I would not exchange the bearing if it has less than 25k because it costs a lot of time...

BMW S1000R or Apriia Tuono V4R or Super Duke 1290 or keep the Yamaha?

You should mention that you crashed the Fz1 within the day you had it! You should have listen to the people here but you never do. I just hope the thread start factors this in before deciding. If you think the bike is to slow for you because you can not keep up with other than you should always...

    Generator / altinator problems

That's bad sorry for you. It seems that the problem is still to rare to make a recall, seems to be cheaper for them to wait it out. I really think they should have stepped up and paid for the full repair even if they label it as a gesture of good will.

    Generator / altinator problems

I read about this problem but it seems to be sporadic. My 2006 has 55k miles and no problems beside the usual 36k steering head bearing and one coil at about 35k. There were some issues that come up from time to time like frame cracks in 06/07 bikes (low percentage) some complain about valve...
