This thIng is fast! How do I make it faster?

Where in the Pacific Northwest are you? Maybe one of the other members near you can help with your suspension setting and discuss riding techniques to help you with getting quicker. Good to see quality gear for riding. Careful with roadside selfies, around here that is taking your life in your...

    First Impressions

See my post in the other thread. It's just some of the questions that make it difficult to belive someone that owns and rides a bike would ask. When I first joined one of the Mods from New York thought that I was possibly a troll because of my moniker. He thought that I was misrepresenting my...

This thIng is fast! How do I make it faster?

The suspicion about being a troll probably comes from the serious lack of basic mechanical knowledge, and the resulting questions. It's nothing personal. Picture of you and your bike would put that to rest fairly quickly. Forums are for sharing knowledge and showing off your toys and we try to...

    Front brakes are sticking.

Good that you found that now. I would just buy the seals (pistons if they are grooved) and some fluid and rebuild. Ther really isn't much to it. Just pay attention when you are taking them apart (take pictures as you go for refference). There is lots of information out there and bike brakes are...

    Front brakes are sticking.

Did you get the axle spacers (collars) mixed up side to side. I can't remember if they are the same length. OK never mind, according to the parts fiche they are interchangeable. Gen 1 Gen 2 I had a similar issue with my fronts this season (different bike) and after changing the pads and...

New rider with some beginner questions.

snap a picture of what you are referring to, as that would make the diagnosis easier. Also when it comes to fork tubes or shock shafts (the chromed bit) be very careful with what you are using to "scrub" it with and how you do it. Scratches can nick the seal and cause them to leak.

    My VFR's ass exploded

I had a similar issue on that old FZ 600 when the generator quit. As the battery was drawn down the spark was weak and unburnt fuel was being exhausted into the pipe and igniting causing backfires and a lot of heat in the pipe. With your underseat pipe I could see it getting hotter than usual if...

    My VFR's ass exploded

It looks like the damage was mostly to the heat shield and plastic inner fender? So the backfiring was just the canisters exploding (one at a time), or was there actual engine issues before the CO2 blew? I have seen cannisters blow Propane ones as well (both rather dramatic). You are lucky a...
