W means winter. It's the viscosity at 0c, the other number is the viscosity at 100c. (frozing point / boiling point) If you live in a hot area, the first number doesn't apply. And even if you do, once your engine is warm, it doesn't change anything. Yamaha recommends 10w40, stick with it!

Yeah.. It's about the same thing here in Quebec, but when you buy a bike from another province, you have to safety it in Quebec. That was my problem. I bought my R6 from Quebec and no safety is needed.

I don't think so, since Fz1 forks are different from FZ1. It'll touch the gaz tank if you try to fit R1 clips.

The lowest one, of course. What is your altitude? The higher you are in altitude, the lower octane you need because the air pressure is reduced. Also, your FZ1 was designed and tuned with regular gas. Look underneath your seat you'll find infos about it. It's useless to put premium fuel...
