Hi, I am going to change my spark plugs now I’ve hit 20k . Is it worth the extra cost to fit iridium spark plugs ? I only do low mileage on my FZ1n now . Thanks in advance

My feeling is no.

I’ve used regular old NGK plugs for close to 400K miles (if we’re just counting Gen 1s). The argument for iridium is they are longer lasting in tough to reach locations. Many swear by them, but I can’t justify the cost/benefit. Save the money and use it towards a new air filter.

I used Iridium my last change out. Only bc they were cheaper…not sure how that worked out…I use my buddy’s dealer acct (constantly buying dirt bike stuff) so always stick with RMATV.

Check that site. Gen 1 may be the same. Tho they may be altogether cheaper somewhere else.

I couldn't remember what I used when I did mine, but fortunately I keep a log of all maintenance I do to my vehicles.
NGK CR9E installed on 10/05/2016.

Ok, so I just checked for plug prices again and just like last yr, Iridiums are cheaper. Not sure why must be that type of plug?

Anyways, how long would you all go on Iridiums? Have about 25k on current set and time for a valve lash in a few weeks was curious if I should just change them out.

Those ones have CR9EK and CR9EIX. Not sure why they are different. Strange. I should say this is for a gen2. But ok so you gone 45k on Iridium. I guess I’ll replace em since I am in there. Cause may be my last valve lash.
