    Puttering and sputtering

How much did it cost you to have a mechanic check all that stuff? For that price you could have bought a silk shirt and a bottle of Perrier to do the test and still save money and time. In all seriousness, a stop at the gas station down the street from the shop would have netted you some paper...

    Puttering and sputtering

And check ebay for those R1 coils. Although it sounds like it might be worth it to pay retail if your boosting Uber's profits by that much. Sent from Tapatalk on my Note 4.

    Puttering and sputtering

How did the wet-towel test go? I went through a couple of coils on my 2008. Bought two R1 coils of eBay ($10 each), but my dog ate the spare. The second time, I ordered a set of four and just started carrying one in my saddle bag. The last thing I wanted was to have one go bad when I was on a...

    Ivan's ECU Flash

I know the power commander is a 3, so I'm assuming the IM is a 3 as well. Edit: Confirmed the IM actually says "for Power Commander III"

    Ivan's ECU Flash

Thanks for the quick instructions. Made the job easy! I had to clip a couple of zip-ties in order to get the ECU unplugged, but it wasn't difficult at all. Shipped it off to Ivan on Tuesday. I bought the bike "fully Ivanized" from the pre-flash days. I now have an extra Dynojet Ignition Module...

What did you do to your FZ today?

Did some general maintenance over the weekend. Brake fluid flushed, chain got a good cleaning. Replaced the spark plugs. While I was at it, I finally bit the bullet and pulled the ECU. It's on its way to Ivan. :sinister:

    preventative maintenance

I put NGK CR9EIX iridium plugs in my FZ1 over the weekend, along with some other maintenance stuff. I ran them (with no major problems) in my 2008 as well.

    Ivan's ECU Flash

I've been hunting around and can't find instructions on how to remove to old ECU. I'm about 98% sold on sending my ECU to Ivan for the flash, partly because my FCE went bad last fall. I've ready this whole thread and heard great things about Ivan's product. Even went so far as to call him...

    FZ1 Mirrors

On my 2008, I made my own from some scraps of metal I had laying around. I tried to use a set from JDA Custom, but they didn't fit right and I ended up returning them. My 2009 came with what appear to be block-off plates from JDA, and they fit fine. I only use one of them. The other side has a...

Carb Sync Tool - Question about "Emgo" brand

BikeBandit is running a "sale" on the EMGO Carburetor Synchronizer (link) for $75. I'm assuming that would work for balancing a non-carbureted Gen II (please correct me if I'm wrong). Also, does anyone have any experience with this brand? I've used a MotionPro model previously, but it was...

What did you do to your FZ today?

I replaced the aftermarket "round" mirrors that came on my 2009 with some that were closer to my old bike. The round mirrors are slightly convex and I found that I couldn't see very far behind me, which was annoying (to say the least) when I was leading a group. Before: After: (I see I got...

2015 FZ1 Forum North America Meet Up

I think this trip sounds awesome, and is a great chance to meet some of the folks who have helped me with both of the FZ1's I've had over the last few years. I'm not sure if I can swing attending due to some family-related changes impacting how far I'll be able to stretch my vacation in 2015...

2016 Calendar is ready! Order now!!!

If you don't get resolution with a single email, call customer service. I've had to call them a couple of times for past orders and they've always been a pleasure to deal with. I'm guessing that a quick call will clear things up to their satisfaction. At worst, you might need written permission...

    Aftermarket Fuse Block Comparison/Recommendations?

There are too many things connected to my battery, so I'm planning to add an after-market fuse block to my FZ1. I had a "FuzeBlock" on my previous FZ1, but was recently introduced to the PC-8, a similar product from Eastern Beaver. I know that there are many ways to provide auxiliary power on...

2016 Calendar is ready! Order now!!!

I think that this a great idea. Would any key dates (FZ1 gathering in Colorado, Ride to Work Day, etc.) be included on the Calendar? What about allowing members to add an event (birthday or anniversary)? I guess I'm thinking that a $25 donation to the site could get the purchaser's "events"...

    Motodynamic versus Customled

I loved the progressive flashing of the Motodynamic on my old FZ1. Based purely on aesthetics, that's my personal choice. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Official 2014 Moto GP Discussion Thread-Do not come here if you haven't seen the Race

I was itching for a race too, so I went and picked up a used copy of MotoGP 09/10 for the XBox. Fun, but not quite the same as watching the real thing. Mostly because I suck at it! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Official 2014 Moto GP Discussion Thread-Do not come here if you haven't seen the Race

I'm a little late to the MotoGP party, having just started following it late in the 2012 season. Naturally, I liked Lorenzo, but I haven't been impressed with him lately. He seems sullen and moody to me. Rossi, on the other hand, seems to simply love riding. He usually has a positive outlook and...
