Official 2014 Moto GP Discussion Thread-Do not come here if you haven't seen the Race

I've seen that 4-panel floating around in a few places. Did this happen in Sunday's race? Love the sparks coming off the rear brake, then the wheel off the ground as he hauls himself back up into the saddle! I have to admit, I was a little disappointed to see Marquez end his streak. I was...

Right mirror and right front turn signal wanted

Still looking? I have a pair of stock mirrors and front signals. Rights are lightly scuffed from a driveway tip-over. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4

    Turn signal in headlight

I installed a timer based relay from customled and had no further issues with flash rates. Was using a motodynamic sequential tail light and proton flush mounts on the front. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4

    Looking for Gen1 luggage

I've seen a few sets come up on Adventure Rider. Bought my set of used Givi V35s and racks there, in fact. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4

How do you protect your bike from theft?

Mine lives in my garage, and I carry full coverage insurance. When I'm out, I lock the forks... nothing more. I have had a few occasions where I've used a bicycle cable lock to secure my helmet to the bike, but usually I just take it with me. This is a long but worthwhile thread I ran across a...

    Soft luggage

I used a set of Dryspec bags for a while before getting hard saddle bags. They did a great job on a few multi-night trips and were completely waterproof. I purchased mine from Twisted Throttle. My only complaint was that on the first trip they rubbed a lot of the paint off the passenger...

    Buddy went down. Pics attached

I really should consolidate all my recent crash-related info into a single thread. In the mean-time, I'll echo the pants comment. I'm convinced that wearing riding pants saved my leg from pretty nasty injuries. As it was, I was able to walk away from a total-loss crash. These pants were less...

Handlebars wanted, but not sure what year!

The first picture in the thread was the handlebars on my '08 FZ1 (crashed bike). I'm embarrassed to say that I never realized that I wasn't running stock bars. All the other pictures in the thread are from other members' replies.

Handlebars wanted, but not sure what year!

I took a few minutes this morning to rotate the bars a little higher. That required rotating the brake and clutch levers too, but it's much better now. Still looks a little odd to me, and the right bar is so much closer to the tank than the old bars, but it's definitely workable. I might do some...

Handlebars wanted, but not sure what year!

Can anyone tell me how high the stock risers should be? Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4

Handlebars wanted, but not sure what year!

I'll try rotating the bars a little more. If that doesn't work, I'll look into the FZ6 bars. Thanks, guys! Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4

Handlebars wanted, but not sure what year!

Well, I'll be damned. I guess I understand now why quite a few people talk about changing the bars. It's not the riding position that bothers me, it's hitting my hands on the tank at full lock. Does this happen to everyone who has the stock bars, or is something else misadjusted? Sent from my...

Handlebars wanted, but not sure what year!

I'm in a puzzling predicament. I just picked up a 2009 FZ1 to replace my [crashed] 2008. One of the things I noticed was that the handlebars on the new bike are "flat" compared to the old bike's. I hit my hands on the tank at full-lock, even with the bars rotated up quite a bit. I went out to...

    Pilot Road 4. Ohh yea

I only put about 400 miles on my PR4s before I crashed. At no point have I thought that the tires were the problem. I was really looking forward to putting them through their paces in West Virginia and North Carolina. If the longevity and quality of the tires is any sort of improvement over the...

'09 FZ1 Granite Gray - Tons of extras

Made it back to Michigan safely! Only "casualty" was that the handlebars rotated down a bit. Straightened that out this morning, so now I'm just waiting for some good weather (well, maybe some not-terrible weather) to take it out on some of the local roads. Have to say, CCHOUSEKY and his gal...

FZ1 in NH down but coming back!

I (almost) wish this thread had been in my reading list when I crashed mine. Crashing my '08 was the first accident I'd ever been in, so I didn't even think about negotiating with the adjuster. As it was, I went just over my $3000 accessory coverage, plus the value of the bike. My situation was...

What did you do to your FZ today?

2nd day of a ten-day trip from Detroit to North Carolina. Had ridden some scenic roads, but nothing technically difficult. I was in the lead and was (softly) on the brakes going into a left-hander to light up the brake light and warn the guys behind me of the curve. There were train tracks in...

What did you do to your FZ today?

Crashed it. Actually, that was yesterday. Today I got word from the insurance estimator that it would likely be totalled. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4
