    Mid O

I did Mid-Ohio as my first (and still only) track day last Summer. The instructors were great and I had a fantastic day. Definitely attend the "class" sessions between runs and take advantage of the down-time as much as you can. It's an exhausting day. Part-way through the day I was told to...

Since I upgraded my membership, the custom signature should work, right!?

    New guy from Northeast Ohio

I was thinking of Linndale - had to check with a friend who lives out that way. Apparently they're not as agressive with it as they used to be. Plus it was I-71, not 271. I rode the shoreway at moderately high speeds (got the "slow down" wave from LEO on the shoulder running radar) and had a...

    New guy from Northeast Ohio

Lyndhurst... Isn't the main claim to fame (and revenue generation) that little chunk of I-271 that lets them set up a speed trap? :sinister:

    Rear brake failure?

Were you riding the rear brake while riding down the hill? It's possible that you boiled the fluid, I suppose. Not sure how that would cause the grinding noise, though. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4

    New guy from Northeast Ohio

Whereabouts in NE Ohio? You're so much closer to "good" roads compared to my location in SE Michigan. I've taken my FZ1 down to SE Ohio and West Virginia a couple of times, and I love those trips! Welcome to the board!

    Austin MotoGP, April 2014

I did the track lap last year in Indianapolis and it was pretty cool, worth the $10 that it cost me (although the staff got a bit overwhelmed and I think that you could have gotten through without having a ticket if you were near the back of the group). Definitely not a high-speed run, but they...

    help won't turn on

If you have an accessory turned on when the bike isn't running, it will drain your battery pretty quickly. Definitely want to disconnect it when the ignition is off. Switching with the ignition is best accomplished by adding a relay. There are a few threads floating around on this forum that can...

    Bluetooth helmet vs Ear buds

I switched to a Sena a couple of years ago, but still carry a set of ear buds with me "just in case." I had problems initially with plugs falling out until I started tugging on my ear when I put them in, much in the same way that you're supposed to put in "regular" ear plugs. Like this...

    Donate If You Can.....

This thread finally motivated me to upgrade my free membership to the lifetime version. I've been getting great information from this site for a few years now, and hopefully I've managed to contribute a few things from time to time. Thanks to Dennis and the rest of the "staff" for helping to...

LED flood lamp wiring - basic wiring ??s

You would be better off running them straight off the battery with a relay from some other switched circuit. If you think you might be installing other aftermarket electrical accessories (heated grips, phone charger, etc.) you should consider some sort of fuse block. You can put one together...

    Dragon's Tail in June 2014

Sorry that I'll miss you! I'd like to ride with another FZ1 at some point! I've only run into one other person on an FZ1, and he was from this forum. Our trip will be an eclectic group... we've got an S1000RR, R1200R, a couple of SV's, a couple of big touring bikes (Victory Vision, K1600)...

    Crash Bobbins

Sometimes it's rewarding to make it yourself, though. I would have thought that "crash bobbins" were "axle sliders" since they look so much like oversize sewing machine bobbins. My frame sliders bolt to the frame immediately behind the engine. They came with replacement engine mounting bolts...

    Dragon's Tail in June 2014

I'm seeing a bit of traffic on two "Dragon" threads. I posted this on the other thread, but for those interested, here's the tentative maps we've been working on for our trip in June/July.

    Advice wanted on The Dragon

Well, I promised a bit of a review of the America Rides Maps and I've been spending a lot of time looking them over. They're a wealth of information. I considered snapping a couple of pictures, but I think that's unfair to the mapmaker. Instead, I'll offer up this Google Map of my interpretation...

    flush mount turn signals

The FZ1N has bar-mounted stalks. That might be a good compromise. Personally, I like being able to change my view by moving the handlebars. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4

Filtering to be Legal in NSW

That's awesome. I'd like to read the report that was written following the trial, since it could be a great document to send to legislative bodies recommending that they consider similar changes in other areas. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4

    flush mount turn signals

Interesting perspective. One of the first changes I made to my FZ1 was changing to bar end mirrors. I didn't feel that the stock mirrors gave me enough visibility, especially behind me. Once that was done, I shortly decided to switch to Proton flush mounts because the stock signals looked odd...

What did you do to your FZ today?

Received a surprise delivery yesterday! New BMC air filter. Installed it (almost upside-down, but I got that straightened out). Took the better part of an hour, not because of any difficulties, but because I told my nine-year-old that he could help. It was more about bonding than mechanics.
