FZ1s run warm. My Ninja was cold-blooded. It all depends on design. Open the exhaust and change fueling to legitimately run cooler besides add HP. I run OEM bone stock and just deal with the heat. Synthetic oil is a must.
I installed a pair last year. The rubber was noticeably stiffer than stock which I thought were stickier. The RS IIs will last longer, but IMO did not like giving up 10% in handling. One thousand miles later I have acclimated and they are fine. Just be aware the early miles will handle...
This thread just made me recall a dream I had last night. I traded my Gen II in on an FZ-09 and was upset after the difference in ride. The FZ-1 is a great all around, multi-purpose street bike that rides like a couch on rails with more power than you will ever use on the street.
That bike has pretty good torque. The suspension will be a bit soft and lower relative to the FZ, but a nice change of pace nevertheless. You will need to plan corners and stopping earlier. Also be prepared for tailbone ache on long rides. I like the bags.
Get the cheap AGM battery on ebay for $40. I took a chance and was surprised how good this Chinese unit performs especially at the price point. No way I would spend $100+ for a motorcycle battery.
