    MIVV Suono

I personally find the Yosh R77 to be nice looking and have had only minor spotting which was easily removed with some Bartenders Friend stainless steel cleaner. Performance wise the Akra, Graves and Yosh full systems are similar although I think the Yosh makes a just a bit more in the...

    Popping...

Geno, In all likelihood your issues are related to the stock fueling curve and or the deceleration fuel cutoff. A PC with a proper map would undoubtedly help your bikes performance and may well lessen the popping. I would still expect the loud bang associated with the return to fueling after...

    MIVV Suono

For upgrades to my FZ project I am primarily interested in performance. With that mindset, a slipon exhaust (particularly one that costs $600) makes very little sense. I purchased a Yosh R77 full system with a titanium can last summer for $625 shipped, but prices have gone up a good bit since...

    2011 Super-Standards on the Dyno

What mods have you done to the FZ other than the pipe? Consider an FCE (fuel cut eliminator) from Ivan, smaller flies and a PCIII. "Closed to open" throttle issues are typically a result of the deceleration fuel cut off combined with the factory fueling and secondary throttle fly opening...

    2011 Super-Standards on the Dyno

Motorcycle.com compared the 11 FZ1 with the new Ninja and Suzuki. They negatively commented on the engines overall character and specifically commented on the ever present throttle snatch. Here's the review: 2011 Gentlemen Sportbike Shootout - Motorcycle.com

Very strange problem with my Gen II (Updated with pics and info)

It may seem counter intuitive but there have been a number of reports from Power Commander tinkerers that leaning out the mixture (from a well performing map) in the quest for improved fuel economy often leads to the opposite. I doubt the issue is your coils . . . . . .

    Dyno 'd and very Happy

Biggest plus from the full exhaust (Yosh for example) would be the bump in the power curve around 7k (where you really can use it) Fully modded GenIIs with the full Yosh make around 100hp at 7k. Thats a gain of 8-10hp over a slip on.

    2011 Super-Standards on the Dyno

Uh, Ballmead was talking about the perfect bike right? What does it have to do with stock or modified?? And what did we go through already?? A bike is something you can own for $ Comparing what you can get for a given amount of money whether it is stock brand spanking new or used and upgraded...

lengthened R1 lines for front end switch?

Well I guess one of gains you will get is better feel, no? I'm not sure what upping the size of the master cylinder has to do with better performance? The cylinder is sized for the application . . .Things like single or dual disc, number and volume of pistons in the caliper(s) etc. Perhaps...

    2011 Super-Standards on the Dyno

A Haybusa will do that. Its a bit of a truck though . . . . Actually, the fully modded FZ does about 65hp at 5k which is only slightly off the 1250. By 7k the modded FZ is well on top. Below 5k the big 1250 cranks, as it damn well should with less than 100 max hp from a 1250.

lengthened R1 lines for front end switch?

:banghead:Yes, but like I have already said, it's not a radial design!
  12. E

lengthened R1 lines for front end switch?

Not quite sir! "Radial" also refers to the design of the master cylinder and they are distinctly different in design from "conventional" longitudinal ones. Here's a blurb from OPP racing "Hey, let's stop and take a look at this lever design - it'll explain why most aftermarket master are...

lengthened R1 lines for front end switch?

I do believe the R1 master cylinder is radial in design while the FZ one is not. The 07/08 R1 MC (perhapsthe earlier ones as well?) is a Brembo unit. I would expect there to be some advantage to the R1 piece. . . .If you are using the stock risers and handlebars for the FZ you could probably...

    Gen 1 to fz8

I don't get this? GenII FZ1s are old hat now and new examples (09s,10s), not to mention used examples, can be had for ridiculously low $.

    Exhaust valve thing?

On the GenII the "at rest" position for the EXUP valve is wide open. It is pulled closed by the cables at a certain RPM to reduce noise output.

    Any update??

    Kawasaki Z1000

Thats a 2008 review BTW. Newer version is, at least according to a number of cycle rags, back on top. . . .

    Top BHP result?

Comparing dyno numbers is problematic at best and worthless at worse:) Different dynos, different weather conditions, altitude, correction factors, opperator competency etc etc. As mentioned, the before and after results can be valuable (done on same dyno) but unless they were done on the same...

    FZ1 ECU Tuning

What I am suggesting is to use the "trims"(pluses and minuses to fuel delivery or ignition changes) of a PC map that works well for a particular bike (whether it is a downloaded map or a dyno generated one) and then somehow apply these trims to the stock map to create a new fuel (or ignition)...

    FZ1 ECU Tuning

This logic can be applied to the other parameters of the reflash as well. It certainly will be nice to remove the gear limitations to power, deceleration fuel cut off and in general to start with a baseline much closer to optimized for proper performance. That said, a power commander (perhaps...
