I know it's been a while but I just came across this thread through a search. I'm Pretty sure that I'm the guy you bought it from (Macarthur Chevron?). I remember that bike and helmet and how seeing your bike made me miss mine so much...so I got another one...!!!

I’d suspect the coils first. But a lot of variables with a full swap. Could be a wiring issue…??? Try moving coils around and see if it changes which cylinders are firing…? Good luck. Let us know what you figure out…

Ok so I assume it’s K&N and reusable then? That’s odd because all the symptoms you describe can be caused from a dirty filter. I guess it’s time to inspect those plugs…

Definitely! That poor bike could barely breathe!… It looks like a critter nest. I’d make sure to look at all the exposed wiring that you can see and make sure nothing got gnawed on…

Not sure, I've heard of them failing before, but it's super easy to rule that out...remove it...

It's a good place to start. Try that header heat check first before you do anything else just in case it's a coil... And make sure your battery connections are good and tight too and it's fully charged... etc etc etc...so many variables...

It will be tough but you could probably get that much out of it over time by parting it out. The engine and frame alone could easily bring $1500... Post up here in the classifieds and maybe on that "other" fz1 forum and Craigslist as well... I've made a lot over the years parting things on...

It's highly recommended, especially after exhaust mods... I noticed your front end is lowered by quite a bit. Did you lower it yourself? Was the rear lowered as well? In my opinion it is too low and should be raised up to make the bike more stable. I'd start with about 10mm of fork tube...

Care to share a pic or 2? What kit did you buy? Got a link? How long did shipping take? I’ve seen the various kits on EBay but was hesitant about quality and shipping time since they are mostly from China…

I've decided to do the naked conversion myself. I want to do the FZ8 headlight on mine. I've seen pics and I really like the look. I can't find any info anywhere about the parts required. I'm gonna just buy the headlight and upper pieces and give it a go. My main concern is figuring out...
