    Visit Japan - Tour 1

Several months ago I was approached by the Yamaha Journeys team and asked to collaborate on touring in Japan. After some looong interviews, a little route sharing and handing over a bunch of photos, the Yamaha Journeys team went to work whipping up a trio of stories. Here's the 1st of the those...

    Bridgestone T30

Went through the front S20 in 3800km. Great tyre but wore out the sides too fast in the speedy twisty stuff! Now @2500km into a T30Evo front and the rear T30R is at @8000km. The front is great. Slower than the S20 due to its big round profile but the grip is there and it is wearing really...

    HID Headlights

Yamaha's option-up arm Y's gear has an HID kit specifically for the FZ1. I got mine off a guy making kits on the FJR forum. It's the 2nd kit as the 1st one, cheap, failed after about a year. Both kits had/have the metal cup n shroud as Delta was likely describing above. Initially, they needed a...

    HID Headlights

My toyota has lowbeam HIDs in the standard reflectors. They were an option when new. They have front caps on the globes to utilize the reflectors minimize glare apparently. They are factory installed and guaranteed and pass registration inspection no problem. Oh, 8 years old and no damage to the...

    HID Headlights

Switched to HIDs a few years ago and won't go back. They are legal here and the testing is strict. If it doesn't fit light patterns and focus the light, it won't pass. The FZ1 reflectors do that. And when adjusted right, they far outperform halogens! Go for a temp of 4300-5000k to avoid the...

    LED Auxiliary lighting

That's a very useful feature. Do the lenses take long to change? Looks like just one LED per light. Is that right?

    LED Auxiliary lighting

Adjusted them down and out probably 5-10deg so as not to annoy oncoming cars. In that position and being floods, they do a very nice job of lighting up the inside of corners even when banked right over.

    Are they spots or floods?

    LED Auxiliary lighting

Have been running LEDs in conjunction with my HIDs for near on 2 years now and they've stood the test of time. So, thought they deserved a review. They are available on Ebay and produced in India. I know some have had problems with these lights but they tend to run theirs on the lower leg of the...

Custom Dyno tune or Ivans full system

If you're going to get a powercommander and can afford the whole kit from Ivan, do it. A dynotune will optimize your current fueling and give you a lot of smiles. But with the ECU changes and full system, it makes a dramatic difference in driveability. Especially low rpm and midrange pull and...
