    gen 2 fz1 reliability?

'07 with @65,000miles/110,000kms and can honestly say my bike is a friggin rock! It's done circuit duty, drag racing, ironbuttin and everything else in between. From riding on snow to scuba riding in typhoons! It's had an electric gremlin or two due to my farkling but nothing major. I try to...

Do you need a piggyback fuel controller or spark arrester(aka PC3/5) to use this?

    Sena SMH5-FM Bluetooth

I have the SMH-10 and my brother and wife both have SMH-5 units. They are almost identical for basic use. Biggest difference seems to be the range. When it starts to break down, they can hear me but I can't hear them.

    ECU and immobilisers?

ECU - immobilizer ? Is the immobilizer function related in any way to the ECU? Have a chance to pick up a cheap ECU from a 2010 but the seller seems to think it won't work on my 07 due to the immobilizer. Thoughts?

    Iron Butt Association

Great advice there from Stryder7 I'd just add that rider discomfort can wear you down mentally. So, sunscreen, lip balm, eye drops, medicated wipes(especially in summer), screen cleaning gear, vaseline+towel(dry hand cleaning) and spares of anything essential to your comfort. As to hydration...

    Touring and Fuel Range Improvements?

Terdog's advice is good. Take an extra 5 minutes to fill it to the brim and you'll get anextra litre plus in there. The power commander and ignition module haven't helped my range as the performance benefit is too much fun and resulted in a consistent 15% less. In general the maps are all...

    Ear plugs

Good point Troy. Always use them with my Sena. Can hear music upto 150km/h and have a telephone conversation upto 120. Even with the plugs, the Graves full system and airbox chop let me know whether the bike is happy or not. Without the plugs , I'm exhausted after a day in the saddle. Brain...

    Cruising the Muroto Skyline

Hey CB. Only had the VFR for a short spell, not a keeper. Nice ride though  Here's what I used it for: http://www.sbkjapan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3380&start=10#p25501

Riding pants, what do you wear?

The armour should be of equal consideration to the slide protection. Ever grazed your leg running by something? Lets say for arguments sake at around 15km/h. Usually, any pants of some thickness will go a long way in protecting you. Try running directly into a knee-high wall at the same speed...

dunlop roadsmart 2 vs michelin pilot road 3

Yep, the PR2 sure does sap confidence as they get woody and incommunicative. I'm trying the RS2 now in the hope they don't do the same. 2800km in and so far so good. A little more feedback than the PR2 and much softer front carcass. Have you considered the Pirelli Angel GT?

FZ1 forum on the road/ferry in Japan

Those fz1forum shirts sure are made for riders! Good job whoever chose them. We both wore them on our trip and they wicked and kept dry. Didn't even stink much after 2 days without washing. These shirts, unlike most promo shirts, actually work as a riding shirt! I think I'll be ordering more...
