    April 2016 BOTM - winner - ferraiolo1

Best way to ensure that it is every month is for more members with FZ's to take pictures, submit to the gallery and Vote. There are lots of bikes here we never see, and members that rarely post. Participate and show off your great looking rides and locations. I may not own an FZ anymore, but...

What did you do to your Non-FZ1 motorcycle today.

Rode It Baby! Yeah!! When I post gps tracks I try really hard to give good, sensible advice about those tracks; like "don't do this in the spring or after days of rain because it is bottomless black mud". I realised the truth of this today, after riding a couple of "green lanes" that I had...

    Why is my motorcycle naked?

Don't get carried away, after all this is your first bike..... don't make it the last. Make sure you cover the rear brake, so if the front comes up you can apply the rear brake to bring it down. Subtlety is important. The street isn't really the place for drag launch practice. Just saying.

The Workshop - What did you do in Yours Today?

Vise Progress Lost a few more brain cells painting a second coat, mainly to get the inside and undersides done. Then removed the masking tape and attached the jaws. Took awhile to find the SAE Allen Key needed as none of the Metric were close enough. Final clean upand assembly...

    Ouch...

Sorry to hear that. This whole getting older thing Isn't for the faint of heart! Surgery, then heal, then physio. I hope it all goes smoothly for you. You should have plenty of time for working in your shop this summer.

Selling bike due to becoming a Parent?????

I did, indirectly. My oldest daughter was just walking, and our first house needed some renovations. The only way that I could afford them was to sell my bike. I regretted doing it, but my family's needs came first. It had nothing to do with fear, or safety, just money. It took years to be able...

Light When my buddies were over using this; We could have used a bit more light in the spot where I usually park my car, and the only spot that does not have a dual 8 foot flourescent. I fixed the problem with an old, unused 4 light unit that had a grounded plug for portable use...

The Workshop - What did you do in Yours Today?

Multi-Purpose Shop Stand Previous to this I bulit a stand (I designed painted and assembled, but had our welder build) that will serve as a mount for the vise, and other things including my tire-changer. It was built from scrap pipe, plate steel and an old drum from a commercial truck. After...

The Workshop - What did you do in Yours Today?

There is usually something that I am working on that doesn't really fit into the Non-FZ motorcycle category, and I'm sure that I'm not alone. I thought that I would make a place for things that you are working on in your Shop, Garage, Man-Cave, etc. My recent examples are improvements to my...

Asking for help with electrical issue

Dustin; The insulation on wires that are exposed to heat or UV light stiffen over time and become brittle. This leads to cracking and splitting as wires are shifted or flexed and is a common issue in areas like steering head wire looms. Just shifting wires around to do maintenance can lead to...

What did you do to your Non-FZ1 motorcycle today.

Oh right, what was I thinking. Here is my next shop project; A bench vise that is a basket case about to be refurbished. They come in handy for many jobs from bead-breaking a tough tire to doing work on forks. I got it for free, and have already made a replacement jaw (one was...
