Riding On Borrowed Time
It was another nice day or at least half a day. It was 1 degree when I left the garage and I made the mistake of wearing my Summer gloves. The heated grips kept the inside of my fingers warm. The top half of my hands started to hurt so I pulled over to warm them with the...
It's either a loose connection or a short from a wire grounding. It shouldn't be a big deal to find and fix. Just a simple loose battery connection can do that.
October 15th
My buddy Paul wanted to show off his FZ 750 again in hopes of selling it so I dropped in for a visit at Bike Night at the A&W on 16th Ave last night after work. It was a smaller showing as the temperatures were dropping quickly as was the sun. Maybe a dozen bikes in all, but still...
One of the skills of riding dual-sport is doing tire repairs. It is a pain (in the fingers) but sometimes you won't have the option of a garage for repair. Having a patch kit and spare tube/s is something I always carry. The first time was stressful, but now I don't worry about it. Tire irons, a...
Video From the Weekend
This was the first little run that we did on the Saturday to get warmed up.

This was the second of the Green-Lanes that we did on Saturday. This footage was shot on Monday during a solo visit to get the footage that I missed...
It was tricky to be sure. Leaves on pavement can be slick, but add grass and black mud underneath the leaves and yikes, next to no traction. Gives new meaning to Fall.
I found a Way
So I went for a quick morning ride to work off the meal and work out the pain. How you ask, By making those already sore muscles work even more.
And being the full-service tour guide that I am, I re-rode the first two green-lanes and shot video and pictures. I re-enacted getting...
Thank You
We did the big dinner yesterday, but there is pumpkin pie leftover for today, so I'm happy.
I think I'll head out for another ride. I spotted another green lane that might be passable. It will help work the sore spots out (not to mention burn some calories), besides I haven't washed...
Video coming down from The Adanac Mine Site

The only video that I shot this trip. The Mine site is about 6000 feet above sea level.
With fall in full swing and a rare warm Thanksgiving weekend coming, I planned a long day (Dawn till Dusk) ride as a sort of Grand Finale to the season. Most of the time trying to get my ridding buddies together for a ride is akin to herding cats, but they must have sensed the impending end to...
congratulations
Very nice looking house. I enjoyed being in Texas in the sunshine when home was snow covered and freezing. You should rack up the miles on the FZ now. Better to be riding than pushing the snow blower!
As a side note, when you wash your bike don't get the pressure washer aimed there for long or you will get water past the gasket and contaminate your oil.
That's the piece, the smaller ones are for the bolts that hold the valve cover (cylinder head) in place. If they stay put ( the half round bits) and don't leak anymore then don't worry about it until your next valve set. Those gaskets are indeed one complete piece and leakage around them is not...
Those are part of the Valve Cover Gasket. Over time the rubber gets hard and cracked and shrinks to some degree. Easy fix, replace the gasket. I put new ones in now every time I do a valve set. For the record, the bike I have now is not an FZ, but the last FZ that I had I replaced the gasket...
