1st gen makeover, paint, R1 forks, R6 shock etc.

I only weigh 180 so I've never found the suspension to be soft front or rear. It's more about the steering angle for me, it feels as though the front tire is starting to push if I go hard into a turn. It just feels a bit chopper-like in its handling. It may be more noticeable to me after owning...

1st gen makeover, paint, R1 forks, R6 shock etc.

Looks great! I've never felt the shock was holding me back too much in the twisties but the raked-out stock forks sure do. I hope to do this in mod in the future.

1st gen makeover, paint, R1 forks, R6 shock etc.

It doesn't look too bad, what else is wrong with it? I put an ad up for one of those on the local racing site (ARL) and thought I had scored a sweet deal for $20 from a guy right here in Dartmouth until he sent me the picture...it was an R6 S shock...damn it

Well, let me know if you do decide to sell/trade. Can't wait to see some more pics as the project progresses.

1st gen makeover, paint, R1 forks, R6 shock etc.

They look like Buell Ulysses guards to me. I've thought about installing them myself, my last bike was a Ulysses and the combination of hand guards and heated grips made for much more comfortable cold weather riding that's for sure. Not sure if I like the look on the FZ...I'd throw them on for...

1st gen makeover, paint, R1 forks, R6 shock etc.

I'm actually in Dartmouth too I just say Halifax most of the time for those not from the area... The FZ's I've seen with R1 forks are a big improvement, looking forward to seeing the finished product. What are you doing with your second set of forks by the way? Any chance you want to sell them...

Hey Bluenoser...I assume you're a Nova Scotian by the screen name...do you still live here now? If so we should hook up for a ride sometime, I'm in Halifax. I've got the same exact bike (minus all the cool mods you're doing now), had it for 2 months now and really like it. I'd love to throw an...

    Modifying the Stock Seat

Thanks for the tips guys. Looks like I have a little project to do before my trip to Boston next month.

    Modifying the Stock Seat

Has anyone added foam to the front portion of the stock seat to change the seating position slightly? I'm a new Gen I owner and the more time I spend on the bike the less I like the seating position. The seat is quite comfortable other then the fact it pushes your jewels into the tank:ugh...

    Gen I Lower Fairings

Droopy: A quick calculation on Canada Post's website tells me it'll cost roughly $50-$100 to ship to you. I won't know exactly until I get them boxed and weighed but that should give you a ball park. PM me if you're still interested and I'll give you the exact cost in the next day or so. Thanks

    Gen I Lower Fairings

Set of Gen I lower fairings for sale with all required mounting hardware. They came with the bike I recently bought but I prefer it without them. They're painted to match Yamaha silver but bike was obviously dropped on the left side and some point and there are some fairly deep scratches that...

    New member welcome thread...

New Guy on Gen I Wanted to introduce myself as a new FZ1 owner, just did the same thing on another forum so for those that are members of the other site this is essentially a cut and paste. I just purchased a silver '03 Gen I a few weeks ago. Been browsing the forum for a while. Lots of good...
