That big sail mostly cuts straight through the wind, altho a few people have complained of buffeting at high speeds. Personally there are a lot of days when i was riding into the sun that I would have loved to have that one, and having it be removable like that is even better.
If you swapped in a different set of carbs and you're still not firing on #2 and #3, then we can 99% assume it's not a fueling issue.
With that in mind, and knowing you already replaced a coil, I'd start swapping coil parts and spark plug wires to the other cylinders, good to bad, and bad to...
I'm reviving a 2001 FZ1 with dirty carbs and other issues from sitting awhile. I've done this before, and there are always gremlins, but to minimize them as much as possible, I always put in new spark plugs. Oil and filter change. New air filter. Clean and double check the carbs along with...
Hey, 86 degrees here is the bomb!! With little or no humidity, it doesn't feel as hot as other places with more humidity. I've only ridden down the strip a few times- mostly locals avoid that unless there's a show or concert, or friends are in town.

It's all about the shoulder seasons here. June thru August are just too hot to do much outside except go to the mountains or get out of town.
Thanks for your help!! I don't know what was done., but I suspect... when i could finally post, my post count was at 3 or 4 already, so I'm wondering if someone just bumped it up once or twice. No more "type hello" either.
I know there's at least one more guy on the 998 FB page that still can't...
Fork seals are already seeping from moving the bike around, so new parts are already in the garage for that. Alls Balls fork seals and dust seal.
Thanks for the coolant tip, I'm thinking flush and replace since I don't know the history of the bike. I also ordered new spark plugs and an air...
New guy in Las Vegas... I was also shopping for a Honda 919 but I grabbed up a 2001 FZ1 on Christmas eve. At $1200, I got a pretty good deal on it, but it needs some love.
It hasn't run in awhile, so I gotta clean the carbs and empty the old fuel out of the tank. Whenever a bike sits...
