I put these on between 1 and 2 years ago when I thought I was on the upgrade path. Since I abandoned the endless search for more hp, I decided it was more important to me to reduce emissions. They are in fine shape. $25 shipping included. PayPal [email protected]
I noticed a difference on my 09, but it rarely made a difference considering my riding style. I slow enough to roll on the throttle before I enter a turn. I don't go really fast very often. If I rode the 09 on the track or broke a lot more laws, I would certainly want the FCE. I also noticed...
Well, I was born and lived my whole life in Texas. Austin feels just right...unless I move to Portland, Vancouver, Seattle, Madison, Ashville...etc. Does that mean I'm not a real Texan?
I love Austin. Came up here in the early '70's for the lakes and the music scene, moved here for college and never left. I love that some kook can bicycle nearly naked and few get upset about it. The homeless are a reality. As sad as it is, I like living in a place where that's not hidden from...
Reminds me of when I overhauled my Honda Elsinore 250 (1974). Got it back together, gassed it up, and was getting ready to kick it over...when I noticed the wrist pin clip sitting on the workbench.
Pete, maybe we can do a little seat-of-the-pants research on this. Aside from the new ECU, our bikes are similarly set up, performance-wise. I have a slip on and K&N filter, but ran out of money before doing more. Your 2006 with the new ECU should be a lot like mine if I get the 2010 ECU...
compare 09 and 10
Has anyone here compared the 09 and the 10 on the road and have a good comparison of the performance change with the new ECU? Pete has am 06 that was well known to have issues, so I am unsure about how much of a difference the new ECU would have on an 09.
Before I got the pipe, I talked to Ivan and he said that little was likely to change without other mods. I bought it because it looked and sounded so good and dropped about 4-5 kg from the mass of the bike. Ivan also said, 'People can make a dyno say whatever they want it to' when I asked about...
It may have perked up the midrange a bit over stock. 20 hp is pure fantasy. It's such a nice piece; it's too bad the manufacturer lies so shamelessly about the power.
Soldering or crimping connectors.
The crimp connections are not bad, but I could tell right away that Ivan (or whoever manufactures the FCE) did a better job with then than I do. I decided to solder all of the connectors to the wires on my bike - crimped them, then soldered with good silver...
Funny, though, the group that shunned me at the ride I described earlier did so when I was riding a Buell. I had a Harley product, but was not wearing the "uniform" - black leather, wraparound sunglasses, obscene amounts of chrome. Everything brand new and squeaky clean.
To be fair, I spent...
I got the carbon fiber Suono for mine. Both look really good IMHO. I agree about the sound. However, my neighbor says that she uses my bike in the morning as a kind of timepiece. She knows where she should be in her morning schedule when I take off. She doesn't complain, but she hears it!!
The sad thing about sportbikes
I saw some guy in his 40s with a little bit of a gut at the local shop. He was sayin' how he was not sure about the low bars and riding position on the bike that he was sitting on. The salesman was saying, "It won't be any problem, you'll get used to it in no...
