Assuming the hex is the same size as the Gen 1, I used to use a spark plug socket, flipped backwards, with a 4" 3/8" extension pushed into it backwards. Like so:

So, here's the problem... Nothing back there is really built to the tolerances that you'd be ale to measure like that... About the only place you could measure between for accuracy would be from swingarm pivot to the rear axle...

You're an engineer aren't you.... Where are you measuring? Between what two points?

My .02 .... don't sell the bike. If you have the facilities, rip it to pieces and sell them separately. There's a good amount of money on that bike in levers, wheels, tank, etc... You'll get more for it as parts than as a whole bike with a salvage title.
