2006 with 24,000 miles. I purchased the bike with 8K miles and a bad voltage regulator rectifier. Troubleshot the rest of the charging system just to be sure and bought a replacement R/R. At 17,000 miles my replacement regulator went south! I replaced it with SHINDENGEN MOSFET FH020AA...

Yes they do work with the stock cables & brake line. I did a test ride last night after installing them. You may have to adjust the routing a little but it was not neccessary on my bike.
The 1 " drop makes a slight difference and my 49 yr old body appreciates every little advantage it can get. You will have to make some adjustments with your shifter and brake linkage. There is enough adjustment in the stock controls to do this. I put about 8000 miles on those pegs and to me it...
Welcome MNGreg,
My 06 FZ1 is basically stock with close to 21,000 miles on it. I always thought the liter bikes were overkill until I actually purchased one. The bike averages ~ 45 mpg on a 20 mile mixed freeway and city road commute. This is riding similar as described by you. Naturally if...
I'm 49. Two seasons ago I purchased an 06 Gen II with 8,000 miles on it. It now is approaching 21,000 miles. I started riding about age 10 and over the years have owned a long list of dirt bikes. About 10 years ago the street bike craze hit with a "free" '81 Honda CB900C that cost about $1000...
Stone stock '06. In commute mode on I-5 the bike gets around 42 to 45 mpg. If I get into the afterburners on the merge a few to many times it goes down. Once on a fluke I hit 51 mpg putzing around the back roads and no stops. Although I wonder if I just screwed the math up calculating that fuel...
I concur! Another '06 owner here and I really like the bike. I average about 43mpg commuting, even milked 46 mpg out of it once just to see how far it would go on a tank and when the F-trip flashes. Sure the '06 has a snatchy throttle but I have just learned how to ride around that, no deal...
Congrats nice bike! I commute on mine and average ~43 mpg taking it easy. Of course get into the afterburners and she drops! My '06 is stock and I have really grown to appreciate this bike. I came off of a 1200 Sportster and the FZ1 is so smooth and refined! The other day my wife asked me to...
My old high school (from many moons ago) team name was Monroe Bearcats. School colors were orange and black hence the colors of my KTM. It sort of added up and bearcat became my screen name on most of the forums I frequent.
Try adapting (read...duct tape) a chunk of surgical tubing or similar to the end of your vacume hose. The small hose may be able to snake around in those tight spots. You just might get lucky and have that plastic piece sucked up to the end of your vacume hose. It's worth a shot and nothing to...
I must be about one of 10 people who actually like the stock "bazooka" exhaust!:D The black spray painted parts blends in nice with the rest of bike. Kind of wish the bike had the gold rims though. Oh well the black wheels roll just as good as the gold ones do!
It is good to hear you enjoy...
Hi tombraider2,
Thanks, I like the blue FZs and Granite Gray bikes best. But you know the deal, gotta go for what's available used in your price range. For now I'm staying with the stock gearing. This bike is so over the top with what I am used to (650 class bikes and Sportsters). I usually...
+1 what the others have said. Especially the battery tender. When a battery gets killed off one too many times the charging system is working harder to keep it charged. This can lead to burning up your regulator recitifier or issues with the stator windings, not to mention the grief being...
