I just use the replacement stock filter from Yamaha. There are too many screws to remove to check the washable filters, then you need to clean them and reoil the filter which takes a couple days to do right.
Check out Sportbikegear for a chain/sprocket set. I have about 10K miles on the one I bought and only had to adjust the slack 5 or 6 times. It's a RK/Driven set.
At 5'10" the stock screen had way too much buffeting to ride on the highway. Tried a GIVI touring screen and no buffeting but very noisy. Tried a Chinese copy of a ZG DB and that was rather nice but still too much buffeting. Finally settled on a ZG Touring screen and very happy with it, no...
THe difference between a HD and FZ1 is night and day. You'll experience good handling and acceleration. Also repairs and parts are priced reasonably. I recently rented a Street Glide in Los Angeles and made the mistake of taking it on Mulholand Hwy. Gawd was it a pig and I have never scraped...
You can get a tailbag that holds enough for a week and just strap it to the pillion seat and rear fender.
I went the softbag route when I first got the FZ1 and realized that they; are not very large, won't hold a helmet, no locks, wobbles on bike, scuffs up the paint, isn't waterproof. Since...
I completely agree with jared p. If you want a superbike buy one but you will spend a fortune to make a FZ1 into one and it still will not be a superbike. I have a 2012 I bought in 2013 and it has 34,000 miles on it now. The only engine mod is a Vcyclenut flash that removed the first three...
Either one is good if it fits well.
I have been using Nolan 104 EVO for the past three years and it still is snug after 15,000 miles + of riding.
The Shark is good if you want a helmet that feels and protects like a 3/4 helmet.
All three shops I go to agree on paper. They all say the stock filter is better at catching finer dust than the oiled ones and they are easier to maintain, toss and replace.
I live in Chicago and there is a lot of road/street destruction, I mean construction, so there is always dust to ride...
I purchased Lextek rearsets from vcyclenut. They were inexpensive and did exactly what I wanted to give me a bit more room on the saddle. The boys are no longer mashed against the tank.
Quality is good, need locktite blue to keep the parts together.
