Stupid rider skill (lack of) issue

I had the same problem, awesome on off ramp on my way home for a long fast left hander. I got to be pretty good lefts. I found a different exit on my way to work that only takes me a minute or two longer to get there and has an awesome right. I find that on/off ramps are a great non track place...

    When hanging off.......

After reading this thread, I thought about my riding position. I tend to hang off on the street because it feels better to me. I am not a super fast rider, but when I hang off in a fast turn it makes me feel more stable and gives me the option of more lean angle if I need it. Always good to have...

Is this an issue? Foot clutch lever feeling.

Yeah man, I feel the same thing. Though only to first usually and like the above said I rarely ever shift under 2500. Sorry, maybe I am hearing you wrong.

    How long do you ride?

Still going. I live in NH and highs have been in the high 40sF, mornings in the low 30sF. I don't have any heated gear and will usually ride unless it is below 32F. I took a spill when there was frost on my tire. I think I only have a couple of weeks left.

    Your Rider Resume

My name is Nick. I am an amateur rider at best. I started riding my first motorized two wheeled vehicle at 20. I am now 31. I have only ever had yamaha. Two 1983 maxim 650s followed by a 1990 FJ1200 and for the past two seasons a 2007 FZ1. With the FZ1 I have pushed myself to new limits. First...

    Would you buy one again?

Yeah, FZ1 4 EVA. No, but really I love this bike. FZ1inNH set me up with a spare pipe for my bunged up one. I have almost 26K on mine and I put 20K on it in the last 2 seasons and I still love it. So reliable and cheap for parts. The choice is clear for me FZ1 again for sure.

    Tank Slapper?

I have had what I think is a good head shake a few times on rough roads with my old FJ1200. A good power input always seemed to snap things back into it. Though my gut is telling me to break hard, pull over and clean out my boxers.

    Throttle Body Sync DIY

Sync was easy, well I didn't actually do it, Eric did. Using a carb tune and the methods fz1inNH has stated works great!! Bike runs better. Might be a placebo, but I think I have a little bit more power in the mid range. Thanks FZ1inNH

    air filter replac..

i am not sure if it is the same as the 07, but that was easy. just make sure you test start the bike before you secure everything. i put everything back on mine, started it and it threw a light. i had forgotten to plug in the sensor wire to the top of the aibox and had to take it all back apart...

    Major Engine Failure

Dude, nice work. It would have taken me a weekend to do what you did after work. Informative too.

    '07 just died....

Nope, Need a load test, Your voltages look good. Also, check at like 6K rpm. Should be around 14.5VDC or so. A load test is the only way. Also, be careful on buying the cheap batteries plus battery. I had two in a row bad from them and the second one dripped acid on my chain and swing arm. Good...

    Major Engine Failure

Sounds like a sour deal. I don't know what a new motor will run you, but I bought my 07 FZ1 in mint condition with 9K miles for $6K. Maybe run a new bike and rebuild later then sell. Just saying. Good luck man. My gut feels like I got kicked in the balls just reading your initial post.

    Tragedy in Oakland

WOW. I try not to do anything when I see someone doing something stupid on the road, but sometimes when I try to pass on the highway and some asshle doesn't even look and almost takes me out( I usually know because I don't see them look before the swerve into my lane and I am usually ready) I...

    chain issues

From owning a couple older bikes, you need to put new front sprocket and chain on. I would do it now. You are going to wear that new sprocket really quickly. The uneven chain links will chew that rear sprocket up. When you change the front sprocket and chain, you will feel the difference. Pony...
