    Running on two cylinders...

Used ECU FZ1inNH found for me on Ebay finally came in today. Plugged it in and it started right up. Went for a 200 mile ride and all is good. Lesson learned...don't use aftermarket coils made in China. Or at least ohm them out first to see if they are close to OEM specs... Thanks for all...

    Running on two cylinders...

I called them and they will refund the coils. I explained how the lower primary coil resistance would draw more current from the ECU and he agreed. But their "policy" is to only replace their items, and nothing else that might have failed because of their items installation. The ECU comes in...

    Running on two cylinders...

I have been searching but did not see that one. The part number is slightly different, with the -50 versus -60 on mine. But I suspect the 08 would work in an 09?

    Running on two cylinders...

Update... Its the ECU. The circuit is very simple, with the 4 connectors going to the four coils. The right side pin of each connector goes to a switched 12 volts. The left side pin is a wire that goes directly to the ECU, so four left side pins, four wires to the ECU. The four 12 volt...

    Running on two cylinders...

I have had tried many coil combinations and want to make sure I am putting the right connectors on the right coils. I have the blue tape on cylinder #1, red tape is on #3. The one shown to the right of the red tape is on #4. Next to the blue tape is on #2. #1 is the left one as I am sitting on...

    Running on two cylinders...

The stock coils ohm out fine. The RMSTATOR coils do not, they have a lower primary coil resistance (like around .5 ohms) and secondary is only 4.6K ohms. They all had the same readings. My current theory is that the RMSTATOR coils have fried the ECU, and it is the ECU that is drawing...

    Running on two cylinders...

09 FZ1, 24,000 miles. Basically stock except for slip on and AIS block. When I was troubleshooting a vibration issue awhile back I went ahead and bought a new set of coils. Got them on EBAY, new from RMSTATOR, $170. External Ignition Cap Coil Yamaha Motorcycles 2002 2013 | eBay I...

I used this DIY: http://www.998cc.org/forum/gen-ii-tech/18874-throttle-body-sync-diy.html And the pics in this thread from Erci...they were very helpful... http://www.998cc.org/forum/gen-ii-tech/9607-throttle-body-sync-2.html The brass screws are difficult to access. I used ty-wraps to pull...

Well the procedure went perfect! 1 and 4 were put all they way in and then out two turns. Got 2&3 matched with just the screw. Then I matched 1&4 to 2&3, they all lined up perfectly. And now the really good news....I think it is fixed! Only went for a short 15 minute ride but it is smooth at...

I am picking up the sync tool this afternoon. I guess I use the newer technique here: http://www.998cc.org/forum/gen-ii-tech/18874-throttle-body-sync-diy.html Versus this older one that says not to touch #3? http://www.998cc.org/forum/gen-ii-tech/9607-throttle-body-sync.html

    Another vibration thread...

Bought the 09 used last year, had around 4,000 miles on it. I guess I like it because I am at 24,000 miles now. I had the common 5k-5.5K buzz right away, read all the fairing mod stuff and it fixed that. I would get a minor 6k buzz but it was really smooth from 7k to redline...like electric...
