01 leaking oil from the top of the fork.

Hello, my 01 FZ1 seems to be leaking oil out from between the cap and the top of the fork tube. I suspect the o-ring on the cap needs to be replaced. However, for an 01 the only way to get the o-ring is by buying an entire new fork cap. But if you look at an 04 or 05 part diagram, the o-ring is a separate part that can be had on its own. Does anyone know if this would work in my 01? The o-ring being separate seems to be the only difference in the fork part diagrams between an 01 and an 04.

I have had my forks rebuilt twice by the local shop when they started leaking. I have an 03. I rebuilt the Forks on my Mountain Bike once and realized I hated that maintenance job and vowed to never do it again.

Sorry that is not much help for your question, but I do recall it being pretty cheap to have the local shop do it since I disassembled the Forks from the Bike and brought them in.
