2015 Yamaha YZR-M1 testing

The YZR-M1 is the nomenclature for the prototype motoGP race bike. It has very little to do with their actual street bikes. R1 included. Our bikes simply see trickle-down tech from this bike. The M1 gets updated every year to continue being competitive in GP against the Honda, Ducati and soon to be Suzuki and Aprilia equivalents. If Yamaha released a street version of this, it would be similar to when Ducati released the Desmosedici street bike a few years back. Unrealistically expensive MotoGP bike for the street.

I read in a German Motorcycle magazine that there will be a new R1 in 2015.

Concerning the M1, yes that is the MotoGP racer and has nothing to do with street bikes, not that anyone of us could handle it anyway.

Actually a good bit of tech from GP trickles down. Maybe good things come to those who wait? There is a "new" bike every year technically.

Found this in my new mag today:
