2026 MotoGP Discussion Thread

Fantastic race, I thought the penalty was questionable as there was no contact.

Can’t wait for the Gp. Toprac was doing decent most of the race. Thought he might get a point or two.

There are definitely three different racers/bikes that can win the Gp.

None of the riders questioned thought there should have been a penalty. Good fun. The longer races will shake out differently of course, but Aprilia looks strong.

"Aprilia looks strong" was an understatement.

Conversely, Yamaha looked uniformly weak, in fact you couldn’t follow them because the Chiron only went to 15th place. Didn’t expect Ducati to have so much trouble. Marc’s rear wheel/tire save after hitting berm was spectacular.

I continue to wonder how a company the size of Aprilia can embarrass Yamaha and Honda.

Marc I’m sure will be back, he was lucky to not get hurt.

Possibly because Aprilia is more focused on MotoGP and isn't spread as thin as Yamaha and Honda with so many other series. Honda so far looks stronger than Yamaha unfortunately. The V4 didn't seem to improve things at all over the inline 4. Maybe things will get better but I've read Fabio is very frustrated and many are predicting he'll jump ship.

I'm sure Yamaha's and Honda's MotoGP budgets are still higher than Aprilia's. Maybe it's cultural, but those Aprilia engineers appear to have worked some magic. Impressive results from the end of last season and now entering the 2026 season. It doesn't appear to be a fluke when all four Aprilia riders are running at the front.

Quite the crashfest in Texas today. Even the winner crashed after the Sprint. Marquez with the ultimate dumbass move.

That was a great Sprint race.

Joan Mir’s consistency is almost legendary. Considering how often he crashes and damages the bikes he should be riding pro bono.

My cable feed didn’t show Marc’s crash in qualifying on Friday. I thought Marc’s failed overtake of Digi was not all that much different than Jorge’s successful overtake of Bagnaia. I guess the big difference is both went down in first, and neither in the second……..if that’s important to you. Speaking of Bagnaia… what/who lit the fuse?

Hope the Gp is as entertaining.

Bagnaia hard to figure. Mediocre year last year, but absolutely dominated in Japan.

Marc crashed out of the race lead at COTA last year and the year before. Hope he doesn't do it again. You can't win on the first lap, but you sure can lose on the first lap. Doesn't appear so far that he has the pace to run away with things this year, so a bit more patience is in order.

Hard to believe that after all his struggles and his attempted rejection of Aprilia last year that Martin is leading the championship. He says he's a better rider than when he won the 2024 title, which led one person to comment that it is amazing that the way to become a better rider is by spending a lot of time in hospital beds.😂

Joan Mir 35th DNF.

Aprillia was dominant. I guess Simon Crafar agreed that Marc went too far on failed sprint overtake (long lap. Marc did well to finish where he did in Gp. Glad Valentino’s team is having some success.

I'm a Marc fan but you have to punish mistakes like he made in the sprint. Looks like he had podium pace in the race, but not race winning pace. The long lap precluded him finishing on the podium. Ducati better get it figured out before it's too late because Aprilia has them covered at the moment and KTM is right there too.

Such a fantastic sprint race today. Marc was a master tactician. I didn’t foresee Bagnaia being on podium when the track was dry. Digi was excellant as well.

Toprac hasn’t caught on yet Good showing by Zarco.
