About to purchase an FZ1SA model, but having issues with the vendor....

Good evening Gents and ladies (and other denominations)
I'm Paul and I'm about to complete a purchase of an fz1 from a well known (some might say infamous because their approach has been highly slapdash) motorcycle dealer in the North West of England.

Basically I've found the model I'm after. A cherry/pornstar lipstick red model from 2011 faired with abs. Looks lovely, checks out okay generally, but upon completion of the handover examination the vendor has lost the master key and the secondary set of rider keys.
This I've told them won't do, and that they'll have to provide me with the red master and two sets of keys and prove this works at handover.
They've agreed that they're at fault here and will get the hardware changed like the ECU on the bike and the locks and immobiliser.

I need to ensure that clearly they provide a new ECU with abs included. Quite frankly having let me down so far, I don't trust these cowboys as far as I can spit. If they've fitted a non abs ECU how does this manifest itself at startup? No abs light for 2 seconds ( because the brain supposedly driving the abs isn't there?).

This being the technical homework so I can be ready for that fight if they dare try and pull this on me. Hopefully they won't, but I'm ready to walk away if they do.

Your help would be much appreciated thanks in advance Pauly B

I Have a Gen 1 with no ABS, so I can't help you there, I was not even the Gen 2 models had an ABS and non-ABS model in the line up.

Depending on how good of a rider you are you can quickly find out if it has ABS with some hard rear braking from speed on a flat straight surface.

Thanks for that. I'm just interested in things to look out for to make sure the maintainer had done their job properly upon receipt of the bike.

Because you have had this trouble, maybe the dealer will agree to you getting a second inspection of the bike done at another shop, and if anything is amiss they agree to take the bike back full refund.

They probably won't pay for that inspection, so it would be out of your pocket.

But maybe worth it for your peace of mind?
