Carb Cleaning Again

It's been a while since I posted here but my FZ is getting some much needed attention now.

I picked up a ~2500 mile Blue FZ1 about two years ago and got it running well, but it doesn't like to sit around. I've had the carbs off three times already, first time when I got it and did a thorough cleaning and gasket replacement, then two more times for crud clogging the pilot jets. Then a few months ago I had it parked in the garage after a few weeks of not riding it and there's a puddle of gasoline in the ground, and the oil sump is filled with gasoline.

So I'll be removing the carbs again to figure out what's going on, I suspect something preventing a float needle from sealing properly.

Not the cheapest option but “new” jets might be better than wire cleaned old jets. You may also have a leaking fuel log o-ring (fuel on ground) but that wouldn’t explain gas in oil.

New fuel filter in place? Fuel leaks scare the crap out of me as I park my bikes indoors near boiler.

All the pilot jets have been replaced already. The o-rings on the fuel rail aren't leaking, it's definitely coming from the overflows, plus leaking down into the combustion chamber on one cylinder. I'll have it all apart soon enough and figure it out. Carb removal isn't difficult on these bikes, especially since I've done it a few times recently.

I bought a 10 pack of compatible fuel filters, not genuine Yamaha but I do have one of those ready to install. I've been replacing these cheap filters frequently, tank had some rust from sitting 20 years and I got most of it out however the fresh filters have been collecting residual crud. They even have magnets inside which helped collect more debris. But the fuel going to the carbs has been clean, last two times I had the carbs off the bowls were clean with no sediment.

It doesn't worry me too much as not a lot of fuel is leaking, once I realized what was going on I shut the valve OFF under the tank.
