Chain stretch

The sprocket in the left pics is certainly badly worn. The one on the right is better but has started to get out of shape.

Usually when I hear a chain skip a tooth its the front sprocket that’s the problem.

3000 miles is pitiful.
That's right , 3000 miles is a joke. I don't care how I ride, which really isn't THAT bad. I oil that chain with the best lube I can find. and often. It's an x ring chain JT sprockets.

I have never had a problem with a quality chain from EK, DID or RK stretching. In the past few years I have come across some Bikemaster X-ring chains on eBay for cheap that have proven to be very good. Probably made by one of the big Japanese chain companies. The really good deals on those seem to have dried up, sadly.

I have used JT sprockets many times and they have been just fine. I only use steel sprockets, though.
I think I might try an RK chain this time

The top Japanese chain companies (EK, RK, Tsubaki, DID and maybe a couple of others) all make good chains.

Looks like the Bikemaster x-ring chains are made by RK, although I don't think they're any cheaper than RK chains these days.
