I just bought a FZ1N from a dealership in North Carolina. How can I check if it is a European model ar if it is a mod?

Are you the first owner? I doubt that a dealer in NC would order one from overseas w/o passing the cost on to the purchaser. (...then again, what did ya pay for it?) Or, it could of come from the Great White North, Eh?!
If you are not, chances are that someone else did the conversion and then traded it in for something else.
Ask your dealer. Did the dealer disclose any other equipment that might be presently installed on the bike?
Post some pictures so we all can admire the new purchase!

The dealer didn't give me much.
The mods they knew about were Two Brothers exhaust, tail tidy, drag bars. Mods they didn't realize are gel seat and PCIII. I have yet to check the air filter but with the mods I know of I would guess it's a K&N.

quick and easy way to tell... it still has the grab handles... the actual FZ1N doesn't.

Va Rider; good point and it does have the grab rails and I did the vin lookup which also sia it is a S.
