Looking forward to reading the results with all the goodies.

watch a few youtube on the rotor replacement.
there are a few tips and tricks hidden in those (not losing case tabs, how to line up parts, turning rear wheel while on center stand to get the gears to line back up etc.)

on a personal note, I kinda wish I’d never watched that wheelie video.
I’m testing my welds waay to often and gonna get myself in trouble :)

I know what you mean about the wheelie video, but I’m gonna go an inch at a time. lol.

I’ve watch every video out there on replacing the rotor. Think I can do it, on a wing and a prayer!

Got the Vcyckenut flashed ECU back yesterday (very impressive turn around) put the thing back together, and it runs. Ha! Then I put a new Puigs windshield on, and then the Yoshimura slip on. What a glorious sound! Gonna do the rotor tomorrow.

Gonna take her out today and see what shakes loose. Will report back my impressions.

Oh! Vcyclenut suggests un-plugging the O2 sensor, anyone know where it is?

Thanks! What is the advantage to these headers? Looks like they are in Australia!

I decided not to take out the catalytic converter thing in the header. Is yours still in?

No advantage to those headers, just a picture to show where the o2 sensor is.
I think those were just a set of factory take offs Someone is getting rid of.

Yes my cat is gutted, it was that way when I bought the bike. It will allow more exhaust flow when gutted, how much and if it’s a discernible difference I don’t know.
Of course thats for track use only ;)

It reminds me of doing the air box mod, once it’s done there ain’t no going back.

Oh OK, I see it, thanks!

Well I took the bike out for 4 hours today, and was blown away. I hate using the cliche “it’s like a new bike” but it is! The power in the first three gears has been transformed. A lot more torque pulling from the start, very noticeable! The throttle lag is completely gone and is smooth as butter, that alone is worth the price. I put on a Puigs smoked touring windshield which made a dramatic difference. The sound of the Yoshimuras are just the sound I wanted!

Sounds like a great experience all around, Reminds me of the Old "A" team saying- "I love it when a plan comes together".

Did you ride 1st gear from ~4K to redline? and if so did the front stay planted or lift up?
Mine oddly stays planted but will get light when running 2nd to redline on the same pull.

I did take it in first to redline … it think it hit 90mph in first. I felt the front end come up a bit, but didn’t push it. I was happy to have both wheels on the ground, but damn what a rush!

Sounds like the non gutted cat isn't holding you back at all - nice.

I know I've hit triple digits in 2nd, but nowhere near it in first.

OK now that you have all that sorted out, if you ever find yourself wishing you knew what gear you are in.......

This little gem went on fairly easy, but does require tank(and maybe airbox) removal - LOL .

If you were to buy into one I would warn to buy from a source in US, not coming from china as the one I purchased linked above now is.

I might remove the cat, but what is it gonna give me, 3 horse power, I’d rather have the torque. lol

Funny about the gears, after 1st it’s a blur until 6th! I can’t imagine these guys who go down to a 16 tooth sprocket, it must be painful. It would be great to know what damn gear you’re in! I’m used to it on my Harley, I might get one of those.

I was bored tonight after a long day with the FZ1 so I decided to replace the rotor. It was a very straight forward job, the only problem is to be aware of the order in which everything comes out., put it back the same way. Lol! The Andymancam is good but he worries too much. Just do it!
Everything is done now, I can sleep at night knowing I removed the cancerous rotor!
