Jet kit for slip-on??

Hi all, I've got a 2003 FZ1. I'm going to be removing carbs for cleaning. While I have the carbs out should I install a jet kit,? I've just got a slip on. Also, should I pop off the air screw plugs and make it more rich? Or one or the other.

When I had a 2003 I installed an Ivan's jet kit and liked the results. I think I popped off the plugs and richened it a bit. I don't remember for sure though since it was quite some time ago. I've had a Gen 2 since 2011...

Can you get to the air/fuel screws while carbs are in and motor running?

I think so. I wouldn't have changed them without the motor running. Can you see the caps looking at your bike?

Yes.. I believe so.. 2nd and 3rd cylinder ones are harder of course..

I'm sure I would have taken the caps off to be able to remove the screws for cleaning. I counted the number of turns in and then set them back to that after cleaning. I seem to remember doing a final fine tuning while the bike was running but it's been nearly 20 years ago.

Right. I seem to remember setting them after starting the bike up. See if you can poke the caps with a screw driver. Pretty sure you can.

A small standard screw driver.. I think there's a flexible special screw driver that's about 6 inches long.. either may work..
