What do you guys do to keep your carbs clean? I know this has topic has been beaten to death but my FZ, or rather the fuel, let me down today.
I went to ride the blue one this morning and it wouldn't start. Weak battery. Charged it up, then a few hours later went to start and it struggled. Finally got it running only to find a clogged pilot jet, lumpy idle and poor off-idle throttle response. The bike has only been sitting for 2 months, and I make sure start it once a week to let the fuel pump fill the bowls if any fuel evaporated and to warm up. She still rips up top, but the idle and lack of off-idle throttle response feels like a clogged pilot jet.
Same thing happened to my silver bike a few months ago. That bike never let me down, and even sitting six months one time with no battery tender it still started and ran fine. Then the last time I went to ride that, same symptoms, two cold headers from clogged pilot jets. Poor quality fuel, and unfortunately where I live there is no ethanol-free fuel available.
I know the answer is to ride them more so this doesn't happen but now with THREE bikes in the garage that's challenging sometimes. Will fuel stabilizer help at all?
