New member welcome thread...

After a lot of foul language the stud finally gave in. Went through 2 nut weldings before it started moving
If I remember when I removed one it was rear wheel off bike (studs up), then cave man style use of vise grip pliers. Welded nut seems much more professional.

What’s the red tool on the floor in the second pic?

I tried the cave man method several times before realizing it's not going anywhere. The heat from the welding probably helped a lot as well.

For the tool, it's a handheld LED light with an articulating head. Great thing, super bright and probably one of the most used tools in the garage

Well the bike is back together, the only things left is to get that stud delivered, install it and set the proper chain slack, remove the wires and connectors from the old LED turn signals and solder them on the OEM ones (and install them)
Oh and clean the front wheel, I somehow did not manage to do it all this time

Sounds like a lot of work, but should be worth every minute. Hopefully, the bike will perform as it should and you will get lots of riding time out of it. 🏍️

GENTLEMAN!!! So last year I bought a 01 fz1 for $200 wrecked, sat since 09, still working on it… BUT! Yesterday I was able to purchase an 03 fz1 “bumble bee”? I don’t know if that’s correct but it has 12,750 miles and is damn near mint. Plus I like the black motor better. Bike came with new sprockets and chain still sealed up, extra windshields. And a metal rack for connecting hardbody saddle bags? And for you gen 2 owners came with a red windshield if anyone wants they can have for FREEE. Just thought we could all share in the enjoyment of new to me classics.. anybody else have a bee in the garage?

Before my 2009 I had a 2003 bumble bee 🐝 If I had room in the garage I would have kept it as well.

The bike is officialy done! Everything has been repaired and cleaned out. Will probably have to wait a month before the weather is good enough to get it registered and take it out for it's first test ride.
P.s. getting the OEM turn signals in with the GT fairing is a huge pain. Will need to buy some LED ones in the future that fit through the hole of the fairing.

Congratulations! Hopefully, you won't have to wait that long before you can ride it. It should be an awesome ride when you do, though. How about a picture or two of the finished project?
