Oil pump drive chain

Long story short. My pump drive chain broke, I lost oil pressure, and burned up the crank. It's all finally going back together now. But the new chain seems to have a lot of slop. Is this normal? There is no tensioner, or adjuster that I can see. The book doesn't mention anything about it.

After talking to some mechanic friends and lookin around on the R1 forum. I think this is normal. I'm gonna put it back together as is. Just kind of weird that there is nothing in the book about slack measurement, or life limits on such an important part.
