Re-covered Grips?

Yes I know, replacement is the better option, but my grips are heated and cost $80 when I bought them on sale. I am not in the market to spend $100 installing new Heated Grips.

The rubber is solid, just starting to get tacky, I am not sure if it is due to the heat cycles or age, but the left one was starting to annoy me so I bought some Baseball Bat grip and did it up on the grip. It worked great but does seem to wear through within 4-6 weeks of daily riding. I was able to re-grip the left side twice with a single roll.

Yesterday I bought some Tennis Racket grip and did up both my grips this morning as the throttle side is starting to get sticky as well. I am curious to see if this will be better or worse than the baseball bat grip. Both the baseball and tennis racket grip provides great feel on the handlebars, and after putting more than 3000 miles on the baseball bat grip I feel it is safe.

Has anyone here covered old grips to give them a new lease on life?
