Ok I'm in the garage on the iPad and I have the bike in the middle of the garage.
I said last night that I'll start with the back of the bike first, but! The delivery guy turned up with all the stuff for the front brake upgrade. So I've started on that first. I'll post up pics as I go when I can. Here's one from the iPad to start with.

Ok here's the start...

So the R1 brake MC and HEL lines are going on now...

MC Before:

New one going on:

old brake line disconnected:

I then had to shorten the hose to the reservoir:

Ok time to start bleeding: which i have a question about...

So I've bled brakes on my cars lots of times before but with fitting a whole new setup, do I have to bleed the MC with the top bleed screw first?

Don't know yet, I'm still trying to bleed them. I'm not getting any results yet... might be doing something wrong?

with twin lines straight off the MC, is there a preference as to which side is bled first?

I'll just go rip the old muffler off and come back with a few more pics.... :tup:

You might need to get the air out of the master cylinder first. With dual line it does not matter which caliper you do first.

seems that you have your hands full for the next couple of days.

As far as the brakes are concerned you will be 100% satisfied, you will notice increased feedback when you brake....did the same mod on my bike and I was delighted when I took a test drive.

No seriously, I'm going to pull out the old rear shock. Then fit the new one...

oh by the way, DAMN that stock muffler is heavy!!!! A Boat anchor is what it is!

Ok, here's what I've just finished doing:


muffler gone, ready for the next step:

Cover the rear end:

Move the rear brake reservoir:

Remove the nuts:

Chock the rear wheel:

Pull the bolts out and give the dog bone a clean:

Drop the old one out:

Oh yeah don't forget to eat some of the wifes yummy Banana cake and some bundaburg ginger beer:

Install the Penske 8983:

Then mount the remote reservoir:
