Hi,
I couldn't get my bike started the other day. Nothing I did could get it fired up. It would crank, catch, and then die. I started taking it apart, tried starting fluid etc. All to no avail. I moved it inside and left it for a while and tada, started up with some throttle.
Once it was started it would start every time.
Brought it home and the next morning I had the same issue except now if I gave it throttle it would run (badly) and then stabilize. No codes, nothing. Video on YouTube here:
It ended up being the plunger in the thermowax assembly being lightly seized in the low-idle position. Some people have said fails in the high-idle position so I wanted to make this post to record it can fail in any position. I disassembled it, smoothed out any ridges with emery cloth, lightly greased it, and put it back together. Works like a charm.
