Had my rear axle off and other parts and put syn grease on axle, is syn grease ok for this?

Grease is grease.
The purpose of greasing your axle is primarily for easy insertion and removal. It doesn't take very much to get the job done.
I use the stuff that comes in a blue bucket. Some older manuals refer to grease as "pot grease" and quality/grade matters very little.
