Weekends in New England lately

Just now got caught in a deluge on my way home from work. Traffic was so bad I didn't beat the rain.
Drenched through and through.

The rain in the north east has been tragic for M-F workers for the last 7 weekends.

Oil Burner,

I was down in your area this week with a relative that needed medical care. That Milford Regional hospital is the nicest hospital I’ve been to in 50 years. It’s a jewel compared to the two giant factory hospitals in Worm Town (St. Vs and Umass Memorial).

Milford Regional has definitely improved a lot in the past decade or so. It used to be one of my last choices for care, if given the choice. The turnaround has been pretty amazing. I hope it stays that way. If you're a little more East, and have to go to Framingham, good luck to you. That one seems to have gone the other way.

I hope your relative got the care they needed and things are improving for them.

Today (6/8/25) was a break from the weekend normal. Comfortable temps and partly cloudy but with sun peeking through.

My wife and I have a tentative plan to move somewhere in the Caribbean when we retire (or even sooner if I can find a gig that pays the bills). I told her we need to visit there in the middle of Summer before making real plans. The humidity here in the northeast is bad enough for me; not sure I won't melt in the heart of Summer there.

Don't think I could take beach or island life for very long. My wife is from Mexico and she would like to retire there, but I don't know even though I have a blast every time I'm there...

I’ve been to Hawaii and several other islands and after about two weeks I’m starved for roads to ride on, and a change of scenery.

My team of dermatologist and skin cancer surgeons would disown me if I moved near a beach.
