Wheelie techniques

You should always cover the rear brake with your foot, because it will bring you back down in a emergency. If you feel like you are going to flip over don't take you feet of the pegs because soon as you do that you will loop it, hit the rear brake instead.

With a stock Gen2 FZ1 start in first gear and bring the bike up to 6k and off\on the throttle. When you shut the throttle the suspension compresses and when you snap the throttle back open the suspension unloads and helps lift the bike timing is everything. Takes about 1 second to complete the off\on. I must stress to start small and just open the throttle a 1/4 and if it doesn't lift, next time open it a little more each time until it does and/or up the rpm range. This will allow you to get use to the front wheel coming up. Once you do that and can ride it a little ways it is time to move to second gear where it is safer. A liter bike as alot of torque in 1st gear and is easier to control in second. Balance point is where the bike will not require anymore throttle to keep the same speed. If at balance point you could technically ride a wheelie forever without giving more gas. If you can see over the wind screen then you are not even close to bp and it also means you are not close to flipping over either. There are other techniques like bouncing and clutching but that is for another time.

Disclaimer: Wheelies are dangerous and should be only performed on a closed course by a professional. Could cause damage to your bike, physical harm to your person and even death. Any advice given by the author is for theory purposes only and should not be attempted.

All of the above is correct. I would like to add that when possible to learn going up hill this will change your incline without changing the ballance point. It makes it harder to loop it when going up hill. Your front tire doesnt seem that high as you get the feel of it. Also you should practice a twist of wrist then tap foot brake over and over flick wrist tap brake flick wrist and tap brake. Your body and mind will fall in sink with this pattern and if you do get the feeling your comming over your foot will bring you down before you can think about it. Then once this becomes comfy you can learn to power shift in between wrist flicking as the bike comes to the topp of its power in that gear and click onto the next. Your off to a good start asking first. It is never wrong to get real input to learn things. NEVER TRY WITHOUT A HELMET> That should not have to be tought. Good luck take your time and dont ride outside your real ability. And once you get this down a vid clip would be nice:innocent:
