Wanting to swap to some sv650 risers and go with some renthol handlebars (street fighters) I want to keepy crg bar end mirror my stock bars are tapped to m16x1.0 I was curious if anyone has tapped the ends of renthol bar before or if I should maybe tap with an STI tap and use a helicoil for the ends? Any help would be appreciated, I picked my bike up with all the current mods so my experience is limited with this. My skills are not limited I have been a machinist for 20 years and have access to any needed equipment at the shop I'm currently working at.

Have done both Renthal & Pro Taper. First use the proper size tap drill. Consider using Tap Magic or other suitable lubricant (wax based) during process. Use locktite on assembly.

Depends on the combinations. I usually replace the entire front end with that from an '07-'08 R1. The upper R1 triple clamp must be modified to use Suzuki SV650 bar risers
which are not particularly high (about 30mm). The Pro Tapers bars are Honda Mini which have about a 125mm rise. I forget which version of Renthal but it had about 75mm rise. I cut about 20mm off the ends before threading and use the stock bar end. They clear the fairing and windscreen in full lock with minimum pull-back, about 29" overall width. The FZ1 is not a Texas Longhorn and after a suspension & front end swap, steering effort is minimal..

No problems with stretching the wire harness connections. I do new individual brake lines eliminating the t-connector. The clutch cable needs to be re-routed below the frame hole.

Too bad about the demise of FZ1oa. There was a full thread on the conversion.
