I average 43-45. But I never red-line it either. Shoot, I've hardly ridden this year at all (weather, other irons in the fire, ect)....

best gas to run in my fz1

i found out this week there are only 2 grades of fuel at the gas station to get the middle grade the pump mixes premium and regular unleaded. has any one else ever heard this or is it a made up lie?

I don't ride mine very hard too often either. Every once in a while, but not often enough. I don't ride enough either. There always seems like something getting in the way.I average 43-45. I have heard of this. Also, according to Google, it is a common practice. I suppose it makes sense. The station doesn't need a separate tank for mid grade.

My red 06 usually got 38, at most 41. It had Ivans old tune, standard intake. I also kept the RPMS pretty low, usually around 3-4k.
This black 07 was getting mid 20s. It was quite annoying cause it wasn't quite enough to get a week of commutting out of it. It had a Powercommander 3, and the full chopped intake (which from the old threads I read caused issues with turbulance of the air that negated a lot of the good from openining it up) And that's with keeping the RPMs low again and just sorta puttzing around, but not dogging it of course.
I could probably do even better that 45 if I kept off the gas, but it's honestly too fun. I don't really stay below 5k anymore unless I'm going through a 30mph zone. Not to sound like a fan boy, but there is no comparison to what the bike was before and after Ivans flash. Two completely different machines. (I also now have his airbox mod, which sounds a lot better to my ears too)
Also putting the RPMs up there seems to be giving it a sort of Italian tune up too. It's not much yet, but I've seen my mpg rise 1 or 2 this summer. Still, better than going the other way, lol.
