How long until one runs out of gas??

Ok so after the light turns on, how many miles more until I'm walking up the street with a gas can? And I know, one should never be in that situation especially with fuel injection but I still would like to know. I have come to realize I do not like the 4.75gallon tank, I need about a 10 gallon. I know it's because I still have to learn the sweet spot for my throttle but still.

Im too ashamed to say!:ugh:

The terrible range of the V-Max is one of the things that scared me away from it. :D

My Gen I averages 42MPG which puts me at an average maximum range of around 230 miles/370 kilometres. Keep in mind, that's mainly city mileage; on the highway I can cruise around 47-49MPG and that should give me a maximum range of 270 miles/430 kilometres. Maximum = I will run out of fuel

If I fill up right when the light goes on, I usually have about 4 litres/1 gallon left; same as theWolfTamer

Unfortunately you need to stay out of this conversation buddy. Vmax and gas mileage are like oil and water! It is fun however, getting to the gas station!

I would say that most GenI's with get between 42 as a low and 47 as a high reading. I have this habit of always filling up even when I don't need to. My son is always making fun of me for this. I just have this inherent fear of running out of gas so I don't think my bike has ever been down below a 1/4 tank since I've had it. I've never even seen the "low gas" light.

Are you guys talking about Gen 1 or 2? I can get to 140 on my tank but that after the indicator has been flashing for a while. After addign gas I saw that I could have gotten about 10 more miles or so. Cant remember exactly. It always works out to 36-39 MPG for me, that's all city riding

I believe that the thread is about a GenII according to his tank size. Yamaha really botched up with the "gas thing" on the GenII's. It's a big difference between the two for sure.

Well if I'm playing hard I only get 28mpg. If the countdown starts I'm headed for gas asap.

Would be a little tough to ride the twisty stuff with 10 gal sloshing around.

Ok, I was going to stay away from this topic but since you just HAD to chime in again....Ah that makes more sense, you're female...so you like riding your male FZ1 is what you're saying. See I get it :)

What I can't figure out is why men expect women to ride male bikes. Incidentally, my cars are male too!

Me too and that is part of the reason why I started to track my mileage so thoroughly. Now I know exactly what to expect and don't need to worry about filling up nearly as often :D

Ah we think alike my friend Dustin :) I just want to know when the freaking thing will be out of gas ya know?

That is part of the reason why I track my mileage so thoroughly, I have the confidence to take the needle deep past the empty mark now so I don't have to stop as often :D

My 06 got 90-150miles depending on how I rode it.
My 01 got 120-170miles depending on how I rode it.
My 08 14 gets 135-210miles depending on how I ride it.
