    help with funny noise

is there a bearing behind the front sprocket that could go bad from my chain being too tight? does the front sprocket just bolt onto the trans ouput shaft? i figure at this point it must be chain related and when i cleaned it something happened. id like to ride it this weekend with the...

    help with funny noise

Now your scaring me with the broken internal pieces. Went and did a ride again, it shifts nicely though, no hangups between gears. I just can't believe the amazing coincidence that could cause this to happen after i swapped out my rear wheel, was great and quiet before that. Would it be...

    help with funny noise

Took some pictures just now. The flash hit the sprocket and made it flash, its not worn like that. There is grease in the picture of the right from the axle, its not glue or epoxy :o) The chain has liberal amounts of chain lube/wax, it is not dirty. Let me know what you think or if a...

    help with funny noise

UPDATE: after a few hours in the garage tonight i'm getting a little frustrated. I took the rear tire back off the bike, inspected the bearings, spacers, sprocket etc. Cleaned the rear sprocket and all teeth are identical, appears brand new. Bought a Caliper today and used it to make sure i...

    help with funny noise

I think the chain is OEM, if its original it has 8300 miles on it. It moves very easily though, none of the links bind or anything, and i've been lubing it probably excessivly to ensure it stays that way. Are the marks on the swingarm incorrect? How else would you determine alignment without...

    help with funny noise

its an OEM 44 tooth rear sprocket. Should that play be measured when on the center stand, or on kickstand, or under load (with weight on the bike)? The chain is super clean, and I've re-lubed it, it makes little if any noise coming onto the rear sprocket.

    help with funny noise

well it turns out it was a bit too tight. I had my neighbor sit on the bike and the chain pulled taught. I loosened the chain to the point of where if pushed hard it can touch the plastic gaurd on the bottom of the swingarm. BUT, i can still hear the noise when accelerating, but the noise is...

    help with funny noise

Hi all, I just got my new rear tire installed (stock size) and now have a new problem. Before I had the tire installed I had no issues other than the big flat spot running down the middle of my rear tire. Well I got the new tire on, and since it was taller from being new I had ot adjust the...

    new to the FZ

Well I'm back to report. I poured a half bottle of carb cleaner in the tank and filled up yesterday. I've driven about 20 miles and it already is not hanging as long and idles better too. Tonight I removed the bar-end mirrors and reinstalled the stock bug antennea mirrors, LOVE them! They...

    new to the FZ

Thanks, I'll check out that thread. I nearly bought an 06 FZ6 for the same price as the FZ1 just for the fuel injection. But in the end the raw power of the FZ1 won me over even if it left dreams of fuel injection in fairytale land for me. Does anyone else on here have trouble with the...

    new to the FZ

Hey guys, just picked up a gently used 02 FZ1 with 7800 miles on it. Apart from needing new tires (i believe the BT20 on the front is original), i'm having an idle problem. When I picked it up to ride home, I had to have the choke half on to ride it home just to stop it from dying at every...
