Anyone else had an awesome ride today?

Mario, it was a fun ride. They are Corbin Beetle Bags. Made by the Corbin seat company. I just looked on their site and they no longer offer/make them for the FZ1. I purchased mine from a man on the FZ1OA site years ago. He didn't like the shiny black so he painted/sprayed them with textured...

Anyone else had an awesome ride today?

I had an awesome ride today, albeit short, only about 20 miles and it was chilly ~40 degrees (F). I installed new T33 tires and had to make sure they were round. ;) At least the road was curvy. I rode an out and back from Minturn, Colorado to Hornsilver Campground, where the pic was taken. The...

    home made damper tool

WRFF, welcome to the group. Here's a pic of the "tool" I made. I used an impact tool to loosen and remove the allen screw. Hope this helps. Jim

    sump pan

I didn't have much luck searching Revzilla or RMATV. So I asked Duckduck AI and they said not interchangeable. I also asked Google AI and it said the same thing. Here's the reply: No, the Yamaha part number 2D1-13400-10-00 will not fit the 2001-2005 FZ1 model years. This specific strainer...

FZ Related Bikes / Parts for Sale

jwarden, thanks for the comment. The first one had 96,xxx miles when I was broadsided by a deer and totaled by the insurance company. The bike was the faster blue color. The second and still going has 135,xxx miles. It is the slower silver color. 😉 Sorry to junk up your post questions...

FZ Related Bikes / Parts for Sale

I'm still here. I just don't know enough to comment on "stuff." When I think I know enough about a topic I'll post, which isn't very often and even then I'm probably wrong. Said in jest, to let you know I'm still here. I guess i know a little as I have over 225,000 miles on 2 FZ1s. Jim

    Handlebar wobble cause?

I would like to see where the shop places the weights compared to where you had them. Is there a way you can make a mark on the rim or tire to compare? Thanks. Jim

    Fork seals

Diving a little deeper into how a cartridge works, I found this pic: The stack on the left is the compression assembly in the fork cap and on the right is the rebound stack (in the cartridge). In this article about fork operation: https://motofomo.com/motorcycle-forks-faq/ I don't think I'll...

    Fork seals

Thanks for your replies. Yes, I do mean cleaning the internal cartridge parts with brake cleaning fluid. I have never seen a discussion or video of the tear down of the cartridge, either. And was wondering if I missed something. Unless someone posts up some info, I'll just put the forks back...

    Fork seals

Resurrecting this old(ish) thread. I am replacing the fork seals, Teflon coated bushings and dust seals on my 2005 FZ1 with 133,xxx miles. I've changed them many times over the years. This time I want to clean the insides of the cartridge (if advisable). I've searched for and have not found...

    Carb Adjusting

rouge, I'll toss this out there, most is probably wrong, but that hasn't stopped me from giving (ill)advice in the past. The mixture screws on the FZ1 when turned out let more fuel in at idle and just off idle (up to about 1/8 throttle). You said your bike will idle with a small amount of choke...

    Clutch Finger

Isleoman, I cover both the brake and the clutch levers with 2 fingers (pointing and middle). Awkward at first, but works for me. Jim

    EXUP valve

Hello FZ1Logan, How do you get the rattle to go away for a couple of days? How many miles on your bike? How many miles on your bike? Have you taken the valve out that hides behind the exup cover in the exhaust? Jim
