I use the crampbuster on my '05 Gen1 and my Yammy cruiser. Love it...but my rt hand gets tingly and goes to sleep after 100-200 mi on the FZ... not on the cruiser. Same gloves. Problem develops in the web of rt hand where fingers join palm. I may experiment with moving the bars back, but I'm not...
Beautiful bike Billy! I really like your painted calipers and matching rim stripes. I have a blue '05 and just ordered matching blue rim stripes for it, waiting for them to arrive. I painted calipers on my cars before, but never thought to do the FZ...you inspired me man! I like your lower...
Me too! I'm getting consistently 40-45mpg on my Gen1. I really babied it last tank and managed 53mpg...but it sure wasn't as much fun! :) At 200 miles I'm looking for a station.

My "Other Life Bike" is a VStar 1300 and I wanted to do the same thing and make the rear lights work as tail lights as well as turn signals. The VStar 1300 forum has a very detailed procedure to do this and I plan on attempting it on my cruiser. It looks like it will work as well with our FZs...
This was an EXCELLENT "know about"! You're right... I had 4 in my collection and would have been royally PO'd to have paid $30+ for another specialty tool!
Thanks SOOOOOO Much, and it did work like a charm!!!

I'm replacing my front tire and tried to remove the front axle tonite. DANG! I removed the calipers, and the pinch bolt on the rt. side, but that axle is REALLY tight! I don't have the right tool (like a male socket) but do have a long-sided nut which fits well and I get a good bite. Yes, I...
My 05 was doing that "shift-to-N" motion with some difficulty until I changed oil the first time. I went with Mobil 1 synthetic 20-50 and the shifting improved vastly! I never thought that would affect shifting, but there was no question it improved immediately following the change! Good luck!

Clean shock!
Thanks! I was also concerned about the shock ram getting blasted w/grit and dirt, so am glad it keeps yours clean. The shock seals take a beating when exposed to krud, especially at high speed! :) I Googled "FZ1 Rear Tire Hugger" and found a bunch of them in various colors for $79...
I have a Gen 1 FZ1 and am considering a rear tire hugger to clean up the tail section a bit. I was surprised to see them running near $200 for this little unit. Has anyone installed one and if so, how do you like it? Do you think it's worth it?
Thanks!

I also have a V-Star 1300. I got the 05 FZ1 for my son but he wanted to sell it and "upgrade" to a KTM Super Duke. He loves it, but I like the ride of the FZ more...so now I have both in my garage and find I enjoy the FZ more than the cruiser on shorter trips. I really like the sound of the...
