    New Addition to Stable!

Will do buddy :) I'll get some video of it running over the weekend if I can :) Yea, most Yamaha's of the mid-80s shared a lot of parts. I'm pretty sure wheels and brakes are probably similar as well. Well Lee they are still relatively plentiful and affordable in Canada. Better get...

    New Addition to Stable!

Well I finally pulled the trigger and bought a bike I had always lusted after...meet BIG SMOKER :D Bike runs good and had the top-end redone less than 2k miles ago. Cosmetically it's far from perfect, but I got a complete set of body panels including the gas tank. They also need...

Upgrading from GEN I to GEN II

For me having both currently (carb & FI) what I love about FI is that no matter the temperature or how long the bike has been sitting it fires right up every time :)

    Applying rim tape

Yea, looks like that vinyl tape probably wasn't meant for outdoors. I've had rim tape on a couple of my bikes for 2-3 years now and have had no such issues.

I think Yamaha should try these in the US

Yamaha should take their motocross 250 or 450 engine and stuff in that chassis. They are missing out on the small displacement market right now. Honda and Kawasaki are selling lots of CBR250s and Ninja 300s.

    Gen 1 Full Exhaust Swap

Well based on all that you're saying and your limited knowledge of carbs I think you should swap over your old carbs. I really doubt bike will run well with stock jetting and full exhaust.

    slip on and cat removal

I know what you mean! It does feel heavier than 15.5 lbs. Now you should weigh your slip-on and see the weight savings.

That was a very nice thing to do. I would like to think that any one of us would have done the same :)

    R1 swinging arm

Well I can assure you that it doesn't bolt "straight in". Some folks have installed 04-06 R1 shocks with adapters, but again these are not straight bolt-on mods. If you can afford it you're better off with the proper aftermarket shock designed for the FZ1

Oil Change .Question for all you experts ( do or not do)

No, the browning is usually the other contaminants in the oil and/or the oil starting to break down. Condensation will bur off once the oil gets hot enough (water boils at 212 degrees F) after a 15-20 minute ride most of the condensation will disappear.

    Oh for a hose clamp...

:jaw drop: at least you were going in a straight line and not through the twisties...

Oil Change .Question for all you experts ( do or not do)

This has more to do with not letting contaminated oil sit in the sump for too long. Even if you don't ride it much the oil picks up condensation and other chemicals as a result of combustion. It's always a good idea to put the bike away for the season on clean oil, but as the others have said...
