This thread really inspired me. So much so that I'm taking a days leave tomorrow to get down and dirty with the bike....actually that's a lie ... I'm taking it to my local dealer to do the first 6K service. Fully syth oil of course with Yamaha OEM parts. Let's see how much they charge....bet...
Decided to procure a genuine Yamaha part. Cost £93.00 here in the UK. Hopefully it'll hide the new radar detector kit. Hopefully both will arrive during the week as I want to fit them before the weekend coz I'm off to the MotoGP at Donnington
Never heard of them before. I just bought a pair of Alpinestars GP Pro's...they just happened to be the best fit for my hands. £150.00... lot of money but pretty good quality. Watched a load of Youtube stuff and these came out well.
I ride for fun. I like to have fun everyday. The bike has to make me smile...so it's normally some crazy ar*ed street ripper.
I generally always ADAPT my bikes to a configuration that suits my riding style and needs. I commute on mine everyday throughout the year.
They must handle well...
I get 224 ish km/tank. That'll be about 38mpg I think.
Bad news is that we pay £1.05/ltr...that's about £4.78/imperial gallon...that's a lot of dollars.
I knew that this would be a contentious issue. It is in the UK. Cameras over here are regarded (stated by the government) as a matter of safety. However, they are regarded by most of the population as 'revenue generators'.
Me...well I'm a typical biker...I don't really do rules but I don't...
Hi WB...nice to hear from you. Quite a collection. Nice site. Cool FZ1...and you've seen a UFO.
That's a brilliant bit of countryside you have around you. Look forward to your involvement here.
In the UK the 06/07 models were known to have dodgy fuelling issues. I think that they were tamed by the installation of a PCIII...you'd need to check with others on that though.
Storage space....I didn't really expect any and so just use my Kriega US10 as a tailpack.
Just procured a speed camera warning system. Little mini (bike specific) system that I can leave on the bike.
It's the Inforad M1. Only £40 (was £100) and can help keep your licence. I heard a chap talking about it the other day and he reckoned it was very accurate...we'll see. The system...
Doh! For some daft reason I assumed that yours was a Gen II...sorry. Promise to pay more attention in future.
Adam,
Take the pain out of it and get Paul to advise. Squirt him an email...he'll sort you out I'm sure.
Nice looking bike. Still prefer the nakeds though;)
Trumpets are gr8...had a speed triple...fully tooled up...arrows, Hyperpros, R&G's all round. 'Luverly stuff'. Thought about the ST for my commute scoot with a bit of touring in mind....still might do that sometime.
Go on get all...
No I found the pics and the list. Look here: http://www.gillestooling.com/produkt_dateien/partlist/Y10_partlist.pdf
Select the following:

I found it all on the Gilles website. (try searching for Gilles tooling and translate to English) They had a list of all of the suppliers by country. Look at the contacts and click on importers. See below I found it again. There's a parts list also under the product listing. If you can't...
Yep that price is about the same as the UK. Some of my MT-01 crew have modified their bikes with the FZ1 unit (it looks a bit like the MT logo). Awsome.
Yo Torquey. Welcome to the suck m8.
These bikes are real nice. Sounds like you've been unlucky with the bandit fraternity stealin' your wheels. Dude that's just plain rude and nasty....nothing that a 9mm wouldn't sort out though;)
Ah ha! Perforamance Parts...the UK importer...has just advised that all parts are available as spares. Happy days.
He did state quite emphatically...DON'T cut down the kick stand as the rearsets are designed to fit as is. He's got an FZ1....marvellous. Gotta send him a pick of the set up...
Guys...anyone else got this little problem?
Today I had my bike up on it's paddock stands. Whilst cleaning the bike thoroughly I had a good look at the gearshift and noticed that it has been fouling the side stand when selecting first. Result is wear on the gear lever and the toe piece...
