2009 FZ1--how to take off seat to access battery?

I realize this is a very simple question, but I'm not sure how to do it, and there doesn't seem to be any instructions in the owners manual. Once I turn the lock and remove the rear seat, I don't see any bolts to remove for the front seat. I tried just picking up on it thinking maybe it just lifts up and rearward like on a KLR, but that doesn't seem to work and I don't want to force it. Any advice would be great Thanks
 
Look for a silver colored lever under the support frame for the seat over the tool box. You move this lever to unlatch the seat. It is explained fully in the manual.

My finger is on the lever. It slides to the left if you look at it as in the pic.

Thanks guys--all of your responses were very helpful and very much appreciated! Even a picture from stretched06 showing the lever which is super helpful; you can't get any better than that. I guess it is in the manual, just not on the page about the battery where I was looking. Thanks again for the very informative replies!
