2025 MotoGP Discussion Thread *SPOILERS*

Pretty good race, although Marc had them covered.
The tire pressure rule is an abomination.

Maybe, but it's a rule and all teams have to adhere to. All the riders get a notification on their dash about the tire pressures being below the limit.
FWIW, that is why MM dropped behind Alex a couple races ago until about 2 laps to go. Then passed him at ease and went on to win that race.
If MV and the Aprilia was as good as he made it out to be during that race, he could have used the same mindset, stayed behind MM to increase / maintain the front pressure and possibly passed MM for the win.
Nothing Vinales or the team did wrong, they just didn't expect him to lead the race, which cools the tires more than if behind another rider or in traffic.

I understand all of that, but it's still an abomination and needs to go away ASAP. Vinales gained no advantage from a couple of laps of too low pressure.

Was too low more than just a couple laps .Lower pressure = more grip. So there is an advantage. And rule states tire pressure must be at or above minimum standards for at least 60% of feature race. Meaning for that 22 lap race, MV front tire was too low for at least 9 laps.

Two fewer laps of low pressure and he would have met the requirement from what I'm hearing.
Kills the spirit of racing. An abomination. There must be a better way.
Hopefully when Pirelli takes over they can find something better even if ultimate tire performance is slightly lower.

Yup, it's a mess for sure. I know the wheel manufacturers spend tons of money ( and then the teams ) to address and manage heat on the front wheels. Will agree Pirelli should take advantage and bring some newer technology so this tire pressure crap isn't a deciding factor.

Fabio / yamaha had a great weekend in Spain.

First lap of the GP was exciting. Marc got taken out by his worst enemy, himself, I give him credit for not quitting and getting a few points.

And Quartararo was impressive staying in front of Bagnaia.
Congratulations to Alex Marquez on his first MotoGP victory. He rode an excellent race and deserved the win.

Bagnaia said he felt he (Ducati) had a better bike but Fabio out rode him. What ever the reason it was nice to see.

Wasn't comfortable passing, so he took the points. Marc could learn to do that, although, once again, he had them covered if he hadn't crashed.

And Vinales a strong fourth. Also nice to see.

Both the Sprint and the GP from France were exciting to watch. Zarco’s win at home reminded me of Nicky Hayden at Laguna, a race I was fortunate to attewnd, Yamaha looked competitive again sans long straights. Marc did a good job of controlling himself in the rain.

Still don’t fully understand all the long lap penalties.

Made the mistake of opening a British online newspaper this morning only to find the GP results as the headline, doh.

The Sprint race was great, Yamaha continues to improve.

Italian Gp was a decent race. Same characters up front but very close for the first five laps. I skipped through the pre-race stuff and the Ducati livery change to purple for the race had me quite confused at the launch.

We said it before the season, it’s Marc’s to lose

Pretty exciting racing for the first several laps, even if it was an all Ducati show. Too bad about Vinales getting taken out by Morbidelli. He might have made it even more interesting.
